3DS Streetpass Experiences

I did as well from Gamestop. They called him a gold mii or something like that. What does that mean?
Look at his pants. Also in the games they have some special features:
enzo_gt + added some said:
Find Mii: Level 5 Mii
Puzzle swap: All pieces for current puzzles (note: one guy hit right about the time of the Pokemon puzzle coming out, he had 0 pieces in that puzzle)
Mii Force: "Check out my Shiny Special Attack!" - Comes with a floating, moving gold orb that shoots automatically. It moves around your entire ship with momentum.
Flower Town: Nothing different that I can tell
Warrior's Way: 10 000 Free Soldiers
Monster Manor: Free gift with your puzzle piece (I got Heart Capsule-L), Mii has 5 puzzle pieces to choose from.

Don't forget, there's a special Nintendo Zone street/spot pass today for Super Mario 3D Land:

(from the last Nintendo Direct)
I got the Nintendo Zone street/spot pass this morning.

There was a Mystery Box with a Koizumi Mii associated with it. The box was full of raccoon leaves, had one P-Wing, and one Star Coin. IIRC the box shimmered but otherwise there nothing special about the presentation. What's really cool though is that the street/spot pass arrived with really aggressive time attack scores for the levels. Since launch I have continued to stay on top of my 3D Land time attack scores; constantly beating new streetpass records as they come in. I'm glad to have a final batch of times to beat as I transition into 3D World.

Thanks. :) I wish I would have known this before I used him in "Find Mii". I wasn't paying attention and used attack instead of magic and it just bounced off the enemy. He probably would have destroyed them if I used something else. oh, well.

In Find Mii they're just level 5, not notable otherwise. Year of Luigi made a lot of this year's special Miis green too, and level 5 green magic isn't any more powerful than level 1 green magic.

I didn't get Koizumi :(

I think there have been a few special Miis I have missed-out on by fudging around with the Plaza queue.

So, wait.. Koizumi is available only for those who connect to the Nintendo Zone and have played SMB3D, isn't that right?

I would guess he is America only since Super Mario £D World is out there today while launches in Europe next week. Speaking of which, puzzle swap panel for that too?

Hmm, maybe. I had a spotpass notification for a special Mii even after I met Aonuma, so I assumed that it was for Koizumi (and nothing happened when I loaded it).

Was on business on Mon, Tues, Weds.

First couple of days got about 10 each day walking through Birmingham.

On Weds when getting train back, got about 30 hits in the space of about 20 mins, while in the waiting area for my train.

Mainly walk around the Metro Centre in Newcastle when I'm out and about and get about 5-10 a trip.

I might be late on this, but I was kinda curious if Nintendo were faking things a bit with the expanded relays:

Meet more Mii characters than ever with this expansion of StreetPass – you might even receive data from a user from an entirely different area!

No wonder I started getting a whole load of new people from Newcastle and Germany.

I'm really getting tired of Nintendo Zones just not working with my 3DS. Last night after Symphony of the Goddesses my friend gets a special Mii and I don't. Really pisses me off that for some reason my machine is broken in this regard. It has worked maybe twice out of all the days I've gone out with it. Missing a Mii via Nintendo Zone is pretty much the last straw. I'm so frustrated and there is little I can do to remedy the situation I suppose. I can't count the times I've had my system tell me a Nintendo Zone is available and then it does nothing and I get no data. It worked one day in a local mall and another time at Wrigley Field and that's it. It's infuriating that a key feature and one that I really enjoy can't be properly used.

Totals for last night:

80 total streetpasses with Mii Plaza but at least 99 total since my pokemon tags were maxed out before even leaving the theater.

Maxed out tags for:

Pokemon
Link Between Worlds
Fire Emblem
Kid Icarus
NSMB2
Mario Kart 7
Kingdom Hearts
Animal Crossing

Got 8 tags for SMT4, 9 for Soul Hackers, and 3 for Etrian Odyssey IV

Now have all pink pieces but four. So that means we're due to get 3 or 4 more panels any time now.

If anything, the 6-pass relays make it even more obvious which locations are worthwhile and which are either unreliable or just don't work.

I wasted time getting coffee in 2 Caffe Neros yesterday before realising that nothing was happening.

Costa Coffee works almost every time. Luckily there are 5 or 6 of them in Birmingham city centre.

I finally got someone from Northern Ireland :)

Anyway odd thing happened with the speical Mii. Got the spotpass, Mii plaza queue full. He was not there but I have the -> arrow to go to the gate...despite nobody in the Mii plaza queue. tl;dr. I would guess special mii can insert itself into a queue.

I've had an influx of Germans lately. I work in Central London so I just assumed it's through tourist traffic.

Nintendo really needs to raise the 10 Mii limit though.

They kinda ruined the fun of knowing that you covertly walked past someone with a 3DS with the relays anyway, but just importing people from around the world really loses that sense of community.

I just got a 2ds about 3 hours ago here in San Jose, Costa Rica (I'm from Venezuela BTW)

I'm taking it out today to try this street pass thing you guys talk about.

Make sure you set it up first. Make yourself a Mii in the Mii Maker app, then open StreetPass Mii Plaza and follow the prompts. You might also need to turn on SpotPass for it manually (go to the toolbox icon within Mii Plaza) so it'll grab the latest puzzle data from Nintendo's server.

Ever since they introduced the 6-pass relay thing in the UK I get 6 English people every day from my local Costa which is weird as I live in Scotland. I was okay with the old relay system but this has kind of taken the thrill out of the wee green light for me to be honest.

Wait, so the Germans on my 3DS aren't people I've passed or those that has passed the same relay spot as me, but ones that have been just imported in by Nintendo?

I get Scottish StreePasses elsewhere during the day so it's probably just the way this one relay is configured but it does expose the artificiality of it every day and kind of annoys me.

I imagine they might prioritise local people and only draft in outsiders if less than 6 people had visited since the previous attempt.

But honestly, meeting the same hardcore people multiple times was more interesting than meeting 70 newbies a week.

Walking through a very busy airport with a 3DS in your pocket is a magical experience. Seeing all the states and countries lighting up on your map is great.

I've been getting 12 hits a day since the relay point hit limit went up to 6. My own pub is a Nintendo Zone hotspot, so I don't have to try very hard! I don't know how I feel about Nintendo shuffling streetpasses around, but I am very grateful for the extra miis at the moment. Being able to make actual progress in these games is fantastic, even if it does mute the excitement of the little green light.

It is inconsistent though. Whilst it works perfectly here, there is at least one hotspot in town, that I know of, that doesn't relay anything at all. Weird.

Had the 3DS since a month or two after release and... a whole zero.

Unless you count some Nintendo employee that they sent us at one point through the internet. Not sure what that was about... but it's the only Mii on my 3DS.

at PAX I streetpassed with Randy Pitchford from Gearbox like 5 times, I think he was staying on the same hotel/floor as me. I thanked him for Borderlands in a personal message and he responded "thx bro"

I laughed, and it was awesome.

I realized after a few days I hadn't activated the streetpass fonction. Have you?

I was staying in the same hotel as the FF14 team and got nothing. I could have used some JP-only puzzle pieces too!

Got Aonuma (again) today. Funny thing is he is deemed unique from the E3 one so now I have two of him in my plaza.

Shame they didn't give him a hat this time.

Can't believe I hadn't noticed they bumped the relay limit until just now. Oddly, I think my dentist was the relay point.

And oh my lord, a
Dr Kawashima
hat.

I have a StreetPass question. Is there any way you can keep any Miis that you've greeted but not played with if you StreetPass 10 people? It didn't used to be a problem when there were only two Mii Plaza games, if I hit 10 people in my Plaza Gate, I would greet them, take a few minutes for Puzzle Swap and Find Mii, then the Plaza Gate would be ready for new people. But the 4 new games take much longer. So often times I will StreetPass 10 people, but then need to take 10-15 minutes to play all of the games with them before I can StreetPass 10 more. Is there some way around that?

As soon as you open the Plaza, and you view the procession of streetpasses as the plaza gate, your system will be able to gather 10 more Miis. When you see an arrow at the right side side of the main Plaza with the prompt "Play" or "Go to Plaza Gate" (or something like that) this means that your system has started to load in the next batch of streetpasses.

Basically your system can hold 20 at once but you first need watch the animation of the first ten walking through the gate.

That makes sense. But I see some people in this thread saying that they StreetPass 80 people in a night. Are they really playing all 6 games after each 20 people?

Sure wish I could beat the final Mii Force stage without losing a capsule! I got the target score and all the gems on every stage, and I've aced everything but 8-3.

I don't know how people are getting 80 a night unless they are referring to special events or if they're using the build-your-own relay cheat. It's hard for me imagine you ever consistently getting more than 10 a day (let alone 20) unless you live in Tokyo or you deliberately visit numerous relay points.

The system is kind of based around playing it for 40 minutes to an hour every day or two. You're kind of missing the point if you're trying to load in Miis en masse without even playing the games.

If I'm trying to do lots of passes in a day I'll just do Puzzle, Garden, and Battle.
Basically.

The exception to what I said above is that at the last two NYCCs I have gotten ~100 a day. At events like that the number of streetpasses you can get is limited only by the number of times you want to load them in.

In 2012 I just did puzzle and didn't even take the time to do Find Mii. At this year's NYCC I did Puzzle, Find Mii, Flower, and a little bit of Battle.

That's the only one I have left as well but I haven't really spent time with it.

I'm quite impressed that you have all the gems. I have all the target scores but I still have gems left on 4 stages. It's those damn 'kill two enemies at the same time' gems. I have sort of given up on those to be honest.

It will be slightly easier when I have all the puzzle pieces in a few weeks.

Even then I could always just let them all in without playing the games just to see how many I can get in a day.

Yeah, I found that in most cases light green (preferably powered up) in the front and back is the way to do it. That or shark missiles.

I've been all hipster natural this week. Staying away from those juiced relays. Streetpassing real British people, in the real world.
