3DS Streetpass Experiences

Blue light on my JP 3DS this morning. I haven't had time to check it but it's probably a Monster Hunter 4 puzzle.

Well after the Streetpass Weekend insanity where I drove to WAY too many spots and yelled at my 3DSes (mostly the US one) for not connecting properly, I am one piece away from getting every US piece. And that piece is on my JP one... so I'll be done later today.

Have 33 US regions, SUPER annoyed that only the JP one got Montana... and TWO Russia passes!

But as for why I quoted you StC... actually got a REAL JAPANESE PERSON, playing some obscure JP only game with ALL THE PUZZLE pieces, so I bit the bullet and got ONE Chibi-robo piece. MY SUFFERING BEGAN. Then yesterday for NO reason I could figure, Nintendo sent me a piece for that OTHER JP-only puzzle. Not a pink one of course. NOPE NOPE NOPE.

Did get a blue light on it today, but not opening it up till I go to McD today, so don't know if I've been cursed with MH4 yet...

Is there any trick to the puzzle boxes? I'm at 38, getting all 50 is a pain.

At the moment I'm just using a couple of people in different parts and then using the next few to try and make complete blocks which results in chests/upgrade orb or sometimes a person.

Just wondering if that was the idea and I just need to keep at it. Depressing part is getting a box then it being one I have already completed. >_<

I'm at Floor 15 and I've never seen a puzzle box. And I've only teamed up with someone, like, three times. Am I missing something?

Yes, you only get them from people you've StreetPassed more than once with (which will give you one you haven't had before) or from people that own the game (which will give you one that that person has completed).

Put these people at the front of your queue (use their pieces first) and then build up same-colored rooms for them to pop up in, viola.

I'm guessing the NA consoles will eventually get the JP-only Chibi Robo puzzle as we get closer to January 9th. At least I'm hoping so.
That reminds me: I'm guessing the EU consoles will get nothing as they didn't even discuss Chibi Robo in the ND (that last game we got was the Gamecube one).

That said we got Kirby's 20th puzzle without the game but Brain Training we did not (and are still without the game and likely to stay that way).

People that have played the game will only show puzzles they have completed. People who do not own the game can have any puzzle.

So basically if everyone were to buy Streetpass mansion it would be impossible to progress in puzzle boxes...great plan, Prope.

I need more puzzles in my life. It makes me sad that the tile is dormant.

Aside from going every route in quest and growing 9 new flowers there's not much keeping me playing.

Thanks for the tips on puzzle boxes, now that I know to prioritize the guys who don't have the game but I've Streetpass'ed multiple times before to get boxes I need.... should get the last 10 I need quicker. :)

I tried getting Wayne Brady through the relay thing but didn't work, I guess its American 3DS only?

Over 1000 passes now. And it feels like this is around the point where I've seen almost all the plaza has to offer.

At least I can focus on the game-specific streetpass stuff now.

I'm soooo desperate for new puzzles...
I just clear my passes out every couple of days now when it's always at a full 10. I've disabled passes for a few games now too, the allure of the green light has wore off I think.

I was on an airplane last week and Streetpass found someone else playing Pokemon X. I was super stoked but realized I had absolutely no idea how to connect with the person! I logged onto Pokemon and searched everywhere in the 3DS menu but I just couldn't find out how to use it.

It was my chance to absolutely destroy a little kid anonymously :(

I missed the Streetpass weekend to really try and get some new connections, so I decided to go out today to the local Starbucks and Best Buy and see if I can get this to work. Nothing. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I've never been able to connect to the Nintendo Zone and get the 6 Streetpass thing to work. What am I doing wrong? I feel like the biggest moron. Is there a detailed step-by-step guide anywhere to do this? I keep getting messages that I'm at a Nintendo Zone location, but it never connects.

You have to stay within range of the Nintendo Zone long enough for it to finish transferring (typically a minute or two). This only takes place if the lid is closed. If you open the lid, do so only to check that your connection status on the upper right corner of the bottom screen says "Internet".

Basically, a watched pot never boils.

Hrm, ok, I'll give it a try again, but I'm pretty sure I've walked around long enough with it closed before. When I tap the Nintendo Zone icon on the 3DS, it never loads (and yes, my wifi is on, etc).

My local Futureshop, which is listed as a Nintendozone, didn't really do much for me in terms of grabbing Miis. However, my local McDonalds gave me plenty of Miis. I'm not sure why that is the case but maybe you need to check out different Nintendozone spots ? Also, keep your 3DS close the whole time and let it do its job :)

Finally got 3 real streetpasses! After months of work. Funny enough two of them are probably asian exchanfe students. I will need to grab my 3DS and hang out in the uni cafeteria.

I can't imagine chipping away at Streetpass Quest with just a bunch of level 1 cats. It's pretty tedious with level 12 mega-teams.

go to a big gaming event. at evo i manged to get two game clears in find mii 2's standard quest using mostly level 1s.

Don't try to load Nintendo Zone. Let it happen without interfering.

Just as a note, if the you don't get the "Nintendo Zone available" notice, you typically won't get a pass. You don't need to open it, but the relays only work when the other software is up and running. All our local McDs worked at relay launch, then suddenly stopped for like a month and a half - free wifi was still working, my phone connected every time, but Nintendo software was down. Then one day BAM working again, and now doing the multiple tag.

Sometimes though, it just WON'T connect. Gremlins.

So, went back to Best Buy. Wandered around the video game area for about 10 minutes, no Streetpass. Opened the Nintendo Zone program, a few times it didn't load, but then it finally connected. Closed the program, confirmed the wifi was on, the green Streetpass "wifi" was connecting...closed the 3DS, but nothing. Restarted the 3DS and wireless, connected again to Nintendo Zone, and still nothing. I'll try again at a different place tomorrow.

Strangely, I was in Best Buy and Toys R Us today and didn't get a StreetPass in either. I've gotten StreetPasses in both stores before.

Starbucks has never failed for me though. Got some coffee on the way home and that green light lit up.

I'm on holiday in Singapore and getting practically nothing. The five hits I've got have included two Americans, one Canadian, one Japanese and just one actual Singaporean.

Everyone here seems to play Candy Crush :(

New 3DS owner, Vancouver is nice for Streetpass, I get atleast 5 new people everyday from my commute. I'll be avoiding the Nintendo wifi weekends things as I prefer to keep my streetpass list pure so-to-speak.

Once again, it has nothing to do with the Nintendo Zone app and launching it is just going to interfere with the relay. If it doesn't trigger in 5 minutes it's never triggering, just move on to the next spot. McDonalds and Home Depot work best for me.

If the connection status says "StreetPass", it's not going to work at all. It has to say "Internet" (blue).

Yeah, I just wanted to see if the Nintendo Zone loaded at all. It bounces back and forth between the green StreetPass and blue Internet at the two locations I've tried. I'll try a McDonalds by my house tomorrow.

The relays can be entertainingly incoherent. Sometimes you can sit in a McDonalds for 20 minutes and get nothing, other days you can walk past a tiny pub without stopping and get the full 6.

I generally have a 50% success rate with relays. Which sucks if you only have 1 or 2 of them to visit.

Tried 4 more places today, finally got some hits. Got 9 (not sure how that works, thought it was 6 or nothing, maybe got some real Streetpasses?) and Wayne Brady, so at least I know it's not my 3DS :D

Haha high-five ! Brand new 3DS owner in Vancouver as well ;) I got the Zelda 3DSXL one ! I also tend to get some Streetpass hits on my way to work and back. However, NintendoZone places are frigging awesome at picking up new Miis from the area as well. I'd say you definitely want to check out those areas if you want to ever have a chance to complete your Mii Plaza games (puzzle one and Find Mii). I saw people on my list that has thousands of Miis collected. That's crazy !

Morocco for 10 days. Found 1 person that was a Japanese tourist. At first I thought it must be that 3DS isn't sold here, but then I saw it in a Virigin store in a mall in Fes (albeit, EU version, prob from France like the games seemed to be). I'm just going to go w/ people are more worried about making enough to eat or something, even though there are definitely well off people as well. Also didn't visit Casablanca which is the biggest city.

Guys, I just wanted to share my happiness T__T

I have had a 3DS since launch. I have since upgraded to a 3DS XL (transferred, of course), but I've slowly chipped away at Find Mii and Find Mii II whenever I could remember to do so. It hasn't been every day, but it's certainly been several times per week, with many stints of playing daily.

Anyway, after all my work, I finally got the Dark Lord helmet! In all of its Glory!

ajEL69U.jpg

I'm not sure it's my favorite but it's definitely one of my most coveted (so far)

What are some of your fav hats guys? (hope this is the 'proper' thread as all hats seem to be streetpass related in some way)

*edit* crap I just looked it up and I guess there's another version of this hat that's a level above it? Argh. Oh well, I think this one looks better. I might not even try for the other one >.>

My favorite hats are Blue Pikmin, Lion and King Dedede.

I'm wondering if something is up with some Nintendo zones in the UK. I triggered one while in a pub, I got 3 hits (was in the pub for over an hour), yesterday at the train station I get 3 hits from the zone there. The pub I can understand only having 3 (maybe not so many people) but that station is odd...

Makes me wonder if the zones are now set up to have 3 but give you up to 6 by using a spares pool (this is all the people from Germany etc) and the pool was empty...

For me, I love using the Prince Fluff toque, Boo Cap, Yellow Pikmin Hat, the Rhythm Monkey Hat, and the Whale Hat. When I was doing a Mario marathon, I switch my Mii's outfit with the Kitsune Suit.

(By the way, congratulations for obtaining that hat & completing Find Mii.)

Thank you! I may work on the secret quest next, i mean I can only garden so much :P

I think my favorite is the Frog hat. But I love the Jack O Lantern one, I wore it all through November. There's lots of great ones. Hope we see not just more hats but more 'costumes' in future updates. Anything to help us further customize our Miis.

For me, I do hope that Nintendo could strike a deal and include hats that are based off of 3rd party games. I would love it if I could wear Mega Man's helmet or have a Heihachi Mishima costume, for example.
