Sure its been asked but I didn't see it. Are your "friend code" friends automatcally friended in the miiverse? Or do you have to add them manually in the miiverse?
Can you add people by friend code in the miiverse?
Are your Wii u friends transferred automatically? (since it sounds like Wii u groups appear on the 3ds).

1) no
2) add NNID (or nick) of the user
3) no
4) yes, there is no transfer really as it's just simply the same thing.

Dunno if anyone saw but there's also an update for StreetPass Plaza...however..it doesn't look like it changed anything (and theres no new hat or puzzle pieces)

Anyone figure out what it did?

Also, I'm enjoying drawing on the smaller screen oddly enough. Feels like its more tighter than the wii U's.

Guessing the eShop is going to be down for the rest of the day. Couldn't get into it last night and still can't today.

Some people are starting entering in both Wii U and 3DS eShops again. One posted here saying he obtained to enter in the 3DS eShop here in Europe.

any downside from this update, aside the "no region switch money" thing?

The update itself is harmless. What you may be wary of is Miiverse and NNID. As long as you don't create one you're free to use your 3DS almost as before, changing regions to access different eShops, etc. However as soon as your 3DS is linked to a NNID, it's also linked to whatever country you chose and you can't change it, ever.

What's new is that without a NNID you won't be able to download the freebies on eShop, like demos or other free applications, videos, etc. This is not relevant to the update because you have to update anyway to even access the eShops. So if you update you lose access to demos but if you don't you lose access to the whole eShop.

I just managed to get in without glitches just about now. Already confirmed it's no longer possible to download demos without registering a NNID, which means no more demos for me as I'm going to avoid being locked to a single eShop for as long as possible.

You shouldn't have a PC pin if you don't have parental controls activated ...

There is actually one 3DS feature disabled by default unless you turn on parental controls. It has to do with the ability to share personal information online. The only game that uses it as far as I know is Pokemon X/Y for the game's voice chat feature. I'm guessing that Miiverse also uses it. If so, then the poster you quoted likely needed to create a pin in order to use it.

I like to turn on parental controls anyway, just to prevent random people from enabling it on my 3DS and setting the pin to something. I just make my pin all zeros.

Last night I ended up racing someone in MK7 via Miiverse (I think you have to do communities - the admins seem to be anal about FCs, though somebody correct me if I'm wrong). I eventually did remember them as somebody I raced with in Worldwides a while back while playing with some friends.

Excellent, excellent!

I thought it was me so I made a looked up my ID it was correct logged in to miiverse on the pc and yup it worked. put the stuff in on my 3ds, it's still not working.

Ya i went on the website and heard there were server problems i know. thought it was strange

I think mii verse is broken for me. I can't see any pictures from posts. It's all blank. Also there are no pictures to the names of the game community.

Can anyone help pls?

It ties the plaza store to the eShop. Remember how you can buy 4 extra streetpass games in the plaza? Those need to be tied to the NNID, too. That's what this update does.

Nintendo really should have put an explanatory window about uploading pics. I've seen people asking how to do this a billion times on 3DS Miiverse communities.

Well, my NNID is now linked to my 3DS, so that's good.

It'll be nice for this to be truly account based one day and be able to use my account on more than one system but hey, baby steps. That and I don't plan on getting another 3DS for a while at least!

So. MiiVerse on 3ds will let me search for friends, but I can't add them. Why is that? Is it because they don't have 3ds and only WiiU?

edit: Just discovered that you can't do this! That's just too bad, really.

There should be a way to save screenshots to the 3DS camera album, then upload from the album to Miiverse. I know that the 3DS implementation is just based off the WiiU implementation, which doesn't have an album, but it's really inconvenient to have to log into miiverse every time you want to save an image.

How hard is it for them to make an online database of hardware ID's and associate it with a Nintendo Network ID for purchases?

..because that's what they did here, they just chose to associate it with wallet funds instead of purchase history. So we still lose all our games if our hardware fails and we don't send it to NOA for repair (even then, we could still lose out on games if they choose to replace the system or replace a mainboard? Unsure).

Why are they just blatantly ignoring these requests? I thought it was a limitation of their staff being unintelligent when it comes to network infrastructure, but this is just neglect. It makes me so mad.

If your hardware fails you just have to call Nintendo & give them your 3DS serial number, they can transfer your account to another 3DS. What are you even talking about?

They are not ignoring it. Nintendo already came publicly saying they acknowledge the problem and they are working to offer a solution.
