Nice episode. Hearing Constantine makes me want to care about Ironman 2. I wonder what that exciting project was the he worked on for three years which was then canned.
Yeah, it sounds like an opportunity cost problem. And if he can put his studios to work doing 40 person teams like he had with Monolith, I'm sure he'd rather be doing that.border said:"Are we going to do more mature Wii games...? Probably not."
He says Conduit and Mad World have done okay, but I think if you read the lines he implies that any old junk would have sold about as well as those and they're better off not putting in so much effort.

you know, in hindsight, I'm not sure that we listened to the same showGhaleonQ said:*checks to see if contradictory opinion was posted* No!
This isn't a complaint, really, and I appreciate a recording this week. This is essentially what I don't want from guests, though: vocal tics, narrow view of the industry, tactfully hedging one's assertions, lack of interesting stories or experiences, little insight and humor.
I know they'll pop up now and again, but I thought Hantzopoulos was nondescript (critically, since his views formed the entire show). Too many of these in a row would be boring, but I can't complain about a misfire during vacations.
Also, I'm not sure he'd accept, but I submit Jordan Morris of Fuel TV/Jordan, Jesse, Go/other stuff for an industry person. Technically, he's "press," but he does so for a nontraditional outlet, he knows a lot, he'ss hilarious, et cetera.

Yeah. It's back to navel gazing. Lordy the lord knows 1up loves to do it. It's fun for a while, but there's only so much "we're awesome because we work in this industry, and these are our awesome stories" I can bear. I mean, videogames. Talk about them.BJK said:As someone else who has heard Constantine on other podcasts (Giant Bombcast?), it did not feel as though he added much new. I have hopes that Iron Man 2 won't be as horrible as the demo I played for IM1, but at the same time....I'm sure that the people behind the first game didn't set out to make something bad. (The game can't get a dozen more content passes, because the launch will be tied to the film; it's the peril of movie tie-ins.)
A day after listening to the podcast, it doesn't stick with me the way that last week's show did. While it may be fun to hear that Don Cheadle has pull with Samuel Jackson, it doesn't match up with high-end, where-the-industry-is-going discussion. I would have been more interested in his thoughts on making Iron Man 2 more like Spider-Man 2 (the game) and less like MUA 2, or the difficulties inherent in making a movie game itself (beyond likeness and voice talent). Great that he's 'in the trenches' with the staff and all, but he didn't say much about the results of that work. That being said, I'm far more likely to pick up Johnny English's Game Pro than I am IM2 (and I'm a Marvel zombie who loved the first movie), so it has a relevance advantage.
I wish that were the case. With Idle Thumbs gone, Giant Bomb is the only remaining gaming podcast that can stay reasonably on topic, and even there you have your recurring food segments 'n'shit. I like 4g1u. I'll keep listening. Just not happy with how this particular episode went.Rez said:I'm inundated with talk about the latest hot video games. There's a million other gaming podcasts that talk about that. I'm glad there's currently one that is doing this.
