$5 off video games at Best Buy

It's the holidays, so let's review this method for saving money. It's the least I can do to pass this on to people who still aren't aware of this method, since I originally learned it at GAF. I've tweaked it a little, though.

1. Best Buy gift cards come in a variety of flavors. Find the video game gift card, which comes in a CD case and has a picture of a controller on it. On the back is a $5 coupon for video games or video game accessories over $19.99
2. Take item to a secluded area of the store
3. Discreetly remove gift card from case and rip out coupon from CD case.
4. Buy game with coupon

The old method involved putting money on the gift card, walking out, ripping out the coupon, then coming back in and using the gift card, coupon, and credit card/cash to finish the purchase.

I modified the technique today, however, because it would've taken me an hour to stand in line twice due to the impending holidays.

I'm really not too bright though! I mean shit! C'mon guys, give me a ban!

I avoid any and all retail establishments for the entire month of December.

It's suicide to go into a Best Buy the week before the holiday.

You can do it but you'll risk getting banned from the store. Some dude from my area got caught stealing CD keys from Bestbuy and he was banned from the mall :lol

Hell I just bring both the item and the card to checkout and get them to put money on it right there. Then I just buy the item with the card, none of this "sneaking" shit :lol

They are phasing out the gamer gift card come this january, so hurry up and get them while you can. Just to let you people know that. But if your a rewards member you'll be getting a monthly coupon for 5 dollars off new games $29.99 and over or 10% off video game acessories.

I'm amazed that you managed to take a slightly shady, though legitimite, technique and make it, you know, more shady.

I just take 'em both to the counter at the same time and say "I'd like these put on seperate transactions, please."

edit: :lol nice work Dragona.

Really? Damn that sucks. BTW none of my business but I dunno about the ban, it's not like it's against any laws or rules or anything, just a "loophole" if you will :P
