I don't understand why people take Revelations literally.

I'm a born again Christian and never have I once tried to find hidden meanings in that particular book of the Bible. Most of the time I read it, I'm just confused as to why it was even included at all. Eschatology has never really captured any attention from me in understanding my faith, maybe that's why.

Why take any of it literally? Revelations is no more implausible than a global flood or Jesus coming back from the dead or Samson losing his power when he cut his hair.

The "beast" himself was almost certainly the Emperor Nero, and that guy's been dead for ages.

Most of the shit in Revelations referred to Roman occupation instead of anything that happens now. Certain area churches around here were absolutely intolerable when the whole Iraq war started, citing all of these quotes and references to Revelations.

People are dumb and easily tricked by others who know better.

born again Christian..?

So just your average Christian then?

My dad's a Priest and he hates America, one of the main reasons being it's so warped over there, like what the fuck

President Bush "God has told me to go to war"

That's funny, because the bible says

DON'T KILL

NO EXCUSES

YOU AINT ALLOWED

The same with all these psychopaths

Im a Christian, but I'll kill somebody for [Insert any reason here]

NO

You cant!
You killin people? You aint no motha'fuckin' christian

Dude took his beliefs way too far. It's just a number that happened to show up. It's not like he was branding himself with it.

I wonder if he would induce vomiting if his restaurant bill came up at $6.66.

I understand the concept, but i dont get why you would refer to somebody or yourself as a "Born again Christian"

Because it conveys information:
-you are probably Evangelical
-you probably converted later in life rather than being raised in your religion

The point is that it's not just an empty phrase, it actually means something.

Oh right, fair enough

I bought a few sodas here in Tennessee and the register rung them up at $6.66. The lady behind the counter discounted one of the drinks off so it wouldn't ring up that way.

Really easy to make people paranoid around here with that number.

In n out in Pittsburg ca used to charge $6.66 for a number one combo with tax included. I always thought that was funny since in n out is so religious as a company.

It costs $6.69 now.

Is there any reason to believe a numerical 666 would mark the Beast? Seems a bit too obvious, the idea that you'd have to translate the name is more evil.
