8-BIT CHRISTMAS - Because Christmas is every day!

Forget Dune. No need to worry about if The Eternals is bland or not. And I heard you like Nin - ten - do.

This is the real shit you've been waiting for.

Out the 24th November because you can never be too early for Christmas.

I was most definitely an NES kid but this feels so much like my N64 experience and all that i did to get one. I'm excited to see it!

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
RetroUSB should sue

But seriously, Timothy Olymphant makes a compelling villain. The only drag is Kevin Smith’s cameo, but thankfully that’s only one short scene.
Great now I'm dreaming of a movie with Olyphant and Patrick Harris. As as straight man I do have to admit having a massive man crush on Olyphant, well probably Harris too.

I love the theme of this, and of course it is close to my heart since when I was 11/12/whatever the most important thing to me was getting a NES for the holiday.. but seeing the trailer for this just makes me think it will be your standard 2021 safe wacky hijinks film. And that's ok for the kiddies but maybe not really what I wanna see. Anyway I have HBO so I'll keep an eye on the review..

Lol. Brings back memories of me begging for a NES for Christmas. Got one in the end.

Now my son and all his friends are reliving this experience by trying to get a PS5 for Christmas.

Saw it last night, really enjoyed it. Huge bit of nostalgia, and fun to watch with my 22 year old son because we had to keep pausing it and explaining what things were or why things were a certain way in the 80s.

Pleasantly surprised how much I liked it. Took a lot of inspiration from several seminal 80s classics, but somehow didn’t come across as pandering. Watched it with my 9 year old and she liked it as well. Worth a watch for all the old farts from the 80s.

I felt like this could have been a series with these kids or more specials without the present day
Eh, I'm glad it was a movie and I felt like the present day stuff helped with the pacing.

If it was a series it'd just be endlessly (erroneously) compared to Stranger Things.

This should have been a lay-up, but, no. I thought it was terrible. The jokes fell flat, the comedic tone was off-key, the plot was ridiculous, the dialogue cringe-inducing, and the acting was just painful to observe. Couldn’t make it past the 60min mark.

Actual conversation between me and my 12-yr-old daughter after an hour of 8-Bit Christmas:

Me: Sorry if I’m a wet blanket here, but this kinda sucks.

Her: No, it sucks. I didn’t want to say anything in case you liked it.

Me: Kill it?

Her: Please.

It was ok. I thought the rich kid with the Nintendo was overdone. Also the setting of 1988 Nintendo was pretty widespread by then. Growing up in that era, I felt like most of us had Nintendos then. We were all middle class suburban kids.
