Err, it was a nice action sequence. Die Hard in space would have been the same. Heck, it was basically the last Tomb Raider game, in space. Don't press X and Sandra Bullock gets impaled by the Soyuz antenna. The script was shit, it even pulled the "the most dangerous day is one day from retirement" schtick worthy of a Lethal Gun remake.

I bet the sequel will be that Bullock landed in North Korea.

It was great on the SFX side. Certainly not on the directing front, considering what the subject was.

Yeah the story/writing in Gravity was pretty average but the direction absolutely was fantastic. It doesn't deserve Best Picture but a movie like that could have ended up very poorly done if it wasn't for its fantastic direction.

Cuaron is an excellent director and I don't disagree. I am not a big fan of Gravity due to disagreement with its philosophy, but it absolutely deserves technical accolades.
