8BitDo Pro 3 controller, Amazon pre order $69.99

"multiplatform compatibility" and it's fucking Switch and Mobile
For a guy who is always promoting the use of a clip on controller for your smartphone in Portal threads you don't seem to be too happy about our new platform overload mobile gaming 😂

Man, I really like that color. 8bitdo controllers are easily the best 3rd party option and honestly, better than any of the first party stuff at this point save for the Switch 2 Pro Controller. That said, I have the Xbox variant of the Pro 2 (cuz it came in white) and the d-pad feels a little off on that one. Could just be that one, though, as other controllers I've bought from them since have been fine in that regard.

But yeah, I made a point of it for a while with the Pro 2 to buy every color variant that came out, so I don't see why I wouldn't do that again with the 3. I really love these things.

Edit: holy shit, you can swap the buttons out so that you can have the Xbox or Ninty button layouts. That's amazing.

I'd love one to match my blue ultimate 2 and plus I'm curious if the shape and size will be more comfy for me .
Added bonus you can use the ben wa stick balls to play pussy prostate ping pong with your partner:messenger_ogre:

They've adressed all the cons Pro 2 had, imho.

TMRs, charging dock, 2.4G, swappable buttons, antifriction rings plus metal slider thingie on thumbsticks.

Hopefully they've improved trigger shafts.

It was plastic fantastic down there with a lot of friction in Pro 2. Trigger stops give me hope they've reworked them from the ground up.

Hopefully it reaches 600-1000Hz polling rate on sticks. Similarly to Ultimate 2.

125Hz in Pro 2 was laughably bad.

Hopefully TMRs are from HallPi rather than K-Silver. Much better quality.

More images here:

Including cloese ups on new dpad. Plus new grip texture and replacable ABXY buttons.

Is your thumb in a different position on one of your hands? 😂
No, but while the left stick is used about 90% of the time in almost every game, the right one is used significantly less in many genres. Overall, the asymmetrical stick placement is therefore more comfortable and ergonomic

We could argue about stick placment for hours and ergonomics.

There is also this stick placment fvi

And it has a myth it's superior to both PS and Xbox style stick placment 🥱🤷‍♂️.

Any reason why this brand is so preferred?

I purchased their Ultimate wired controller. Granted its budget option. But it was bad enough I sold it off. Especially joysticks. Quality wasnt as good. Large dead zones, not very smooth or precise feeling. Almost like a 360 / PS3 controller.

Edit: I messed up here. That design is just good for games that frequently use both analog sticks.

Symmetrical Sticks?

Sick Hugh Jackman GIF by First We Feast
You would be surprised as to how little of the 3rd party market bothers with symmetrical joysticks everybody and their mother just want to release Xbox controller clones.

Which is why I use I use the 8 Bitdo Pro 2 because PlayStation controllers got me used to this Joysticks setup.

You're right, I probably shouldn't have called it asymmetric. What really matters is the placement of the left stick, and here it's positioned correctly. Depending on the genre, this layout can actually be better, especially for 2D games where you rarely need the right stick. But for many 3D games, the Xbox layout is usually preferable. Either way, in total both are better than having both sticks placed at the bottom.
I like all stick placements. Controllers are my jam lately.

There's a lot of stuff to choose from.

Symmetrical controllers where in dire rate of improvments so I'm happy we get a new release.

The topic is vast. So I won't get into stick placement right now.

Maybe in the near future as there will be an OT sooner rather than later for that 🤞.

I'm 95% m+kb and 5% more than happy with my 8Bitdo Ultimate 2.

Better not, that would 100% be a console warrior shitshow.

Boyos, I was about to get either the Ultimate 2 or Pro2 but, I saw that you can actually connect a Dualsense to the Switch 2 using the 8bit Do V2 adapter ?

The thing is only 20 Eurodollars and I've already got 2 DSs for my PS5 so, maybe that's the right move instead of actually getting ANOTHER joypad ? I just don't have any space left in my room, thing is, how viable.of.an option is this ? Will I have to pair and re-pair the DS from the S2 to the PS5 every time ?
