9 games announced for European PSP launch, movies inside

Kinda racing heavy, but I expect more games to probably join the lineup. Weird that SCEE is announcing stuff before SCEA. :/

That's SCEA for ya.... :/
Wait for January....

It's worth bearing in mind though that, with the exception of Ridge, these are just Sony's first-party titles
I didn't notice that...Puts the lone Fantavision at PS2 launch to shame :lol

"Football"...

Hope they have contracted flesh blood if the "This is Football" team is going to develop it (hell, even EA knows better how to do a soccer game).

Good that a Winning Eleven PSP is a sure shot... hope Konami release with at same time than Winning Eleven 9

Actually, SCEE will likely be publishing Ridge Racers in Europe as well. This is just the 1st party lineup I guess?

still no official price or release date if my italian is not rusty

It's not rusty ;)
They say the level of all the lineup is good but they're particularly impressed with Wipeout,Ridge Racers and MediEvil.

WOW! Nine first party games at launch? And Sony already owns Europe in the console market, it seems.

I'm not interested in any of them though, but this is a nice start. I'm really interested to see PSP game prices for Europe.

from the ign wipeout interview:

Q: What new elements have you introduced to the game?

Berry: The first perhaps most crucial element is not new as such, but a return to the very early days. We have abandoned the dynamics system from Wipeout Fusion, the ships are no longer 'locked' to the track, they are free to bounce and leave the track when you move fast over the undulating surface it is a throw back to the feel of the earlier games, that was one of the earliest decisions made and the game feels like Wipeout because of it.....hence the name Wipeout Pure!

nice. nice. nice. i was optimistic about this game from the moment i heard the "pure" in the title. i'm glad i was reading the right thing into it. :)

Yep... I've got a feeling Europe is really going to be PSP's biggest market... so long as they don't charge 257€ anyway.

A SCEE survey said PSP games will cost around 40€ of course it's not the final price.

Thank you. That would already be an improvement if it'll happen. And it may force Nintendo to reduce it's handheld games prices as well. :)

Wow Wipeout Pure really is pure. I like the style. I certainly commend them for the courage, but i think the average gamer is not gonna like that TRON look very much. They probably should've invested in some textures instead.

257€ is 339$, holy shit. I don't see many people buying at that price when the US version is supposedly 199$! People will make import shops just importing PSP, hell i'm gonna make one! I'll make a fortune.

£179.99...

Now watch it be $180 here.

Wipeout pure will allow for various downloadable content, like trach, ships, and even music. Mine!

They probably should've invested in some textures instead.
There are tracks that look nothing like Tron stuff. Just watch the video. I really like the game's look. Very stylish.

That's impossible. With the dollar being so low they will be losing even more money than they already do. Or the inital shipment is gonna be VERY low, like 100,000 or so.

i bet the flat-shaded tracks are the new zone mode. i can't dowload the movie either. it keeps cutting off.

I think $199 is the most likely US price. They might limit the $199 amount though and have most launch PSPs being $249 "Value Pack" versions like Japan.

First party games... if those all indeed do make it to the launch window that's pretty impressive. And of course that's not including the many likely third party candidates that'll have something for launch.

But...Lumines. That's all that matters. I'm serious.

Hmm after seeing the Wipeout video i'm somewhat underwhelmed, i don't know why. I kinda like the screenshot better :)

I'll try to make it as simple as i can for you to understand.

Screenshot = Looks fucking great and stylish!
Video = I'm getting a generic Wipeout feeling, kinda meh. Great for PSP, but more of the same.

Now get off my back! :)

Mumu, you're trying too hard to be a fanboy (Edit: This is a joke, don't take it personally. I'm just teasing you). Let me make it a bit easier for you.

The quality of the visuals and how impressive they are almost identical to the screenshots, which you implied otherwise.

Your problem with the direction of Wipeout Pure is your opinion and that's cool, but Wipeout 1/3 are some of the greatest futuristic racing games ever, and the maps are heavily influenced by those amazing designs. So it's your opinion, but I disagree on such an incredibly high level that my hands are trying to break the virtual barrier so that I can pour some sense into you :P

And that pic you posted... there are places like that in Wipeout Pure. So it's not like you ain't gettin' the best of both worlds, crackerjack.

Now I'm removin' the monkey from your back so it will leave you alone.

I agree the video looks pretty generic. Great for a handheld but doesn't look as good as the screens.

But the video seems to be stretched too much and the game is still in development.

Hope they release some better quality video's soon.

It looks barely unchanged from the screens. Your attempt scores an F.

I'm talking about the single screenshot posted on the very site this topic is about! I don't know of any other screenshots. I have no idea what is going on in your head and why you are seeing fanboys around every corner just because someone is not 100% in love with some game.

So all pro-PSP trolls, please get off my back.

Man, didn't you read my post? I said I was just teasing you when I called you a fanboy! You're mean.

I don't even have an opinion on PSP yet until I play it. All I know are the possibilities. And the screens/visuals. And all I said is that in terms of quality of the visuals, they are identical to all screenshots. Look in the official PSP thread (the second to last page I think) to see other new shots.

I ain't pro-PSP until I play the damn thing. I am pro-DS, which is the contrast.

This is Football looks much better than in those videos. It' s very smooth albeit a little bit on the slow side.
