PlayStation 5 users now have an additional way to complete purchases of games and other content on their consoles: Apple Pay. Here's how it works.

How to use Apple Pay on PS5

When going through the checkout process on your PS5, you'll see a new option to make a purchase using Apple Pay. If you choose Apple Pay, you'll be shown a unique code that you scan with your iPhone or iPad. After scanning the code, the native Apple Pay checkout sheet will pop up on your iPhone or iPad, where you can choose which card to use and authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID.

Apple added support for using Apple Pay via this code-based system with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 last year. For example, this is the same method by which you're now able to use Apple Pay via Chrome and other third-party browsers.

Apple Pay support is available now on PS5 and is expected to come to the PS4 with a forthcoming software update. It's admittedly not as quick and easy as just saving your card to your PlayStation account and making a one-click purchase, but if you're looking for a way to score 2% Daily Cash with your Apple Card on PS5 purchases, this is a nice improvement to have.

Nice. If i had a PS5 I'd much rather use it than give Sony my card details.
You don't need to give Sony your card details. You can use several payment options like PayPal, or to buy a PSN credit voucher code in any store like a CD key store, Amazon or any physical retailer store.

True. Paypal is always my second preference too. But this is secure and convenient. Doesn't hurt to have it.
