Triangle Strategy is out now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Microsoft Store with a 30% launch discount for a limited time

Eh, I think the distinction people make here is pretty clear. They want mainline FF games using turn-based combat, not smaller budget HD-2D stuff (which I like) being most of what gets it.

Or even just making a new FF Tactics from scratch instead of just a remaster. I think this game gets close to that, but the story and voice-acting seem to disappoint based on user reviews.
The stuff I read about this game was really great. The only negative things I read is that it's dialog heavy\gameplay light in the beginning to setup the world and then it really gets going. That should be something any real JRPG fan is ready for in my honest opinion. Anyone who likes Metaphor, Persona, or the Trails series is already used to dialog heavy JRPGs.

They also redid romancing the saga 2 which I've heard nothing but great things about other than the narrative is weak. I guess your right though they just want FF to be turn based but I'm not even sure I want that. I like the system FF7R has and I'd like to see more of that.

Square Enix consistently sets the precedent that late ports of previous exclusive games get launch discounts. I'm expecting them to NOT keep that energy when FF7 launches on Switch 2....

It's weird how everyone has turned on Square about turned based games. While they continue to make several turn based games.

I think what people want are more higher budget FF type turn based games. Not necessarily these lower budget HD2D games with retro design.
I really enjoyed Triangle Strategy but haven't really cared for the other ones. Octopath 1 lost me pretty quickly with the super generic plot and dated design (fuck random encounters).

Also, while I really like this game, I think these HD2H games are on the expensive side. $60 for a 3 years old game with simple retro style visuals is quite steep, even with the discount (which is only for Ps+ memebers) it's only $3 cheaper than what Expedition 33 was at launch.
People can quote me and say "they are worth it to me", which is fine, but retro games with 2D visuals selling for full price is definitely limiting their appeal.
