There was a father of a girl here in Ireland whose daughter committed suicide who said the show glamorised​ suicide, and yes he had watched all of it.

the longer it becomes since i watched the show, the more i think it was just misery porn garbage. and yeah, it does glamorize suicide. kill yourself and an entire town will care about you!

I always feared what effect this series would have on people with suicidal thoughts watching the series when I was watching the series (didn't watch all the episodes, skipped most of the middle).



It's a terrible series in my humble opinion, I was quite baffled that this series was so critically praised and has a lot of fans. It's a contrived, long-winded teenage melodrama with stereotypical characters that glorifies suicide. I find the plot device of the film repulsive. Someone fantasizing how people react when they find out her story on why she commited suicide, who is instilling guilt on people. I really don't get it. I've heard some people calling this show "life-changing", but I guess it's good that some people got something very positive out of it.

Pretty much every suicide prevention association out there was against this show so... This is probably not the last.

Right on the money.

Very, very easy to see why to anyone who's watched it. It makes it seem cool and that you can make people pay by doing it this way.
