Seriously, the self satisfied smirk in the silent panel is a big part of what makes the joke. Even though the art is minimalistic, that comes across and isn't fluff. Though I think the last two panels could be edited into "Was that a pun? I have a very serious problem!" without the "yeah" response, I'm not going to complain because it wasn't.
