If he's tweeting he's not cuffed.

Police will generally take sucidial people to the hospital.

This. Not all cops are assholes. They are paid to help people after all.

It's really getting hard out here to be a women. These guys that feel some entitlement to getting women is getting scary and seeing them all just coming out is very ridiculous. I don't know what to even say anymore.

Ehhh... Reading the rest of the thread now, I don't even know Wtf is going on. First he's on suicide watch but anticipating albums and stuff like that? This sort of sounds attention seeking for some reason. I'm having slight Deja Vu of a Law and Order episode.

that's not uncommon, i knew a guy who bought concert tickets months in advance and talked about how he was hyped for future games and movies and then he was gone.

I think If he was actually going to do it he wouldn't have told anyone.
This is absolutely not true for everyone. My grandmother was vocal about her plans (she was trying to get help but her husband withheld the money from her while simultaneously cheating on her) and she followed through. I've had 2 suicides and one attempt with people I've been close to, if someone says something I don't take at face value (unless they're clearly joking).

Wow they acted fast, usually you here these stories of things being reported and never investigated.

Weather he was going to go through with it, IDK, but I hope he gets the help he needs.

And good eyes OP for catching this.

This shouldn't be a surprise, but if someone is suicidal, you might find some flaws in the logic of their thinking and behavior.

My uncle shot and killed himself back in 2011. He had mentioned it in the past, and hinted at it a number of times, but no one believed he would ever actually do it. It went on for a few years even, and got more intense over the last few weeks of his life. On the day he did it he acted perfectly normal, flat out told my aunt while they were out eating and a trip to Walmart that as soon as he got home he was going to kill himself. I don't think anyone believed him even to that point. Then he did it.

This hits incredibly close home to me. I truly do hope that we prevented something horrible, I really do.

You done good man, even if he wasn't serious. Gaf is always amazing when it comes to things like this.

Well. .

I hate to laugh at this situation, but the guy probably doesn't even know NeoGAF exists, and we got him put in a cop car.

I hope he gets the help he needs.

I hope he has some good insurance, then. It would suck if all this accomplished was giving him horrible medical bills that he can't afford, putting him into debt, making him even more suicidal.

When the alternative is him killing himself or hurting others before killing himself, I think some debt is okay.

And believe me, I know the pain of medical debt, and I even have insurance. I wanted to cry today because I opened a 500 dollar bill I can't afford to pay.

Sorry to hear, I'm just going by my experiences with it.

Was it suicide or just of natural causes? Tbh, I take suicide serious. The town my parents live in had over 50 suicide cases, and most of then we're my age. The most recent one was a kid who I went to school with. He was chill, was telling the class that he's going to be doing big things. He was a DJ, was really doing good for himself. He had a son and was about to marry his girlfriend. Ironically I found out he lived in the apartment directly above me. Then he just out of the blue tweeted that he couldn't take it anymore, say good bye to my son and tell him I said sorry, took a picture of his set up and hung himself. In the apartment right... Above... me. That was some serious traumatizing stuff.

So if this guy is doing this for attention.. It's really fucked up.

For those who may not know, he's in a "Legal 2000", at least that's what they call it here. He's probably going to brought to the hospital to the suicide watch ward (which is not a nice place, either). Legal 2000 is not an arrest which is why his hands are free to take pictures. However, I'm surprised it's not the ambulance that took him there and instead the police but maybe it differs by situation or by state.

It would suck.

But along with suicide threats, he made mention of how he thinks about killing people.

He only has himself to blame if he's inconvenienced by someone calling the cops on him; as sorry as I feel for him you don't mess around with suicidal people making mass shooting threats.

I can't help but wonder if we'll ever truly know what happens next. I sure hope so. I wonder how old the guy is.

EDIT:

Ah, it's on his FB...

December 31, 1988

So he is 25 now.

Hopefully that doesn't go against him if he seriously does not have the actual urge to do it, but that could get him in some trouble possibly. More than likely as I mentioned, they will just take him to suicide watch in the hospital. Bad part is if he's not insured, he gets the bill. Also, suicide watch is actually pretty crappy too and hopefully he's able to stay calm and change his mind about killing himself otherwise next step he'll be taken to an actual mental hospital, which from what I've heard is even worse. I suppose it's whatever needs to be done to ensure he doesn't harm himself or others.

He's into fighting games, so wouldn't surprise me if he reads gaf.
Hope he gets the support he needs.
Good work to the gaf members who contacted the police.

Yeah observation sucks. Hopefully he can actually get a damn bed in a decent facility, if he's admitted. When I was in observation they released me because they had no empty beds.

Glad to see him get a response and hopefully things can improve from there.

OP it's really good that you took notice of this so kudo's to you!

I've known the guy for years and I don't think he was serious.

Pretending to be depressed was just his gimmick and having just talked to him a few days ago and how calm he seems in his tweets just reinforces that.

He really did screw up though, hopefully he learned his lesson. At least I hope that is the case.

Well, that's interesting. Damn.

Uncuffed in a police car, says he going to be gone for a few days... probably going in for an evaluation. If he is really is okay, then he'll get let go and probably before 72 hours. The medical bill will be a nice incentive to not joke around about this kind of stuff again. If he's not okay, then he's getting the help he needs. Win win.

I'm always going to err on the side of caution when it comes to depression due to my own response to it. With the exception of a few very close friends I generally hide my depression when it acts up or, if I can't fully hide it, make light of it and use it as a source of humor. No one likes the mopey person so I learned, for better or worse, to act happy regardless of my actual feelings.
