I've got this here Asus K8V-SE deluxe its suppost to have USB 2.0. Thing is Windows aint recognizing it as USB 2.0. I've tried Asus for a little help. I need to know how to get windows to recognize this key ring (2.0 only) I'm suprised i never knew that Windows wasnt setup for 2.0.

So anyone got ideas?

Windows what ? XP or 2000 ?

You will likely need a driver for the USB 2.0 root hub. Have you checked device manager for any hardware that needs a driver ? (ie with a yellow and black ? )

The other thing it could be is that your motherboard has two usb controllers on board, one for USB1 and one for 2.0. You would need to make sure the ports you are using are patched to the proper header on your motherboard.

Read your mobo manual.

Its usually as simple as booting with a floppy disk and using a program like AWDFLASH. It will come with the bios update download.

You cant really hurt it, just dont turn the computer off while you are flashing.

ok i'm getting annoyed. I made a boot disk put the required program in the floppy. Then unzipped the .zip (i'm assuming thats what i need to do) and then put it in the floppy as well. But they show it as a .rom in the manual and website. All of them have different endings like .006 or .002 WTH honestly can someone make this out for me and explain it to me?

You dont need a boot disk to update your motherboard's bios because it has a built in flasher. First u should download the latest bios (1006 Is The Latest Non Beta I Found), unzip it and rename the extension from .006 to .ROM and put it on a floppy. Reboot, during post hit Alt+F2 to enter Ez-Flash, it should read the floppy, flash and reboot automatically. Also make sure USB 2.0 is enabled in the bios and that u have SP2 for proper USB 2.0 support.

:lol this shure has been fun. I dont know what happened, but changing the name of one of the files to .rom then doing as you said. Just deleted my bios and settings, then hung for a while. Restarted....

AND then nothing was there. Tried CMOS and RTC RAM, nothing so i made what ASUS calls "the disc of life" takes 4 hours to get to reset.

I asked them and they couldnt help me out on the USB 2.0 thing which is depressing. I told them i was using 1001 bios and they actually laughed at me.

I'm now waiting to get them to create my next floppy.

Oh what fun this is.

uh...? did you check the mobo manual? I had the same problem and all I had to do was go into the bios and change a setting that has USB 2.0 turned off by default.
