A really important Next Gen Question....

Do you guys think next gen we can finally have dead ppl that stay on the ground and dont dissapear? Its really annoying to be when i see that disapearing bodies shit.

I like GR2 and R6 games cause the bodies dont seem to dissapear. The last thing i wanna see after a hectic firefight is bodies dissapearing and the whole area looking new again. I get a real sense of accomplishment in FPS games when i see bullet holes and bodies all around the area i just passed.

id like to see more dynamic blood splattering and dismemberment.

Manhunt had some awesome blood. And that sniper rifle head shot kicked fucking ass. NEED MORE! :O :O :O

Yes! Definately i also liked hitman 2 blood it would splatter on the wall and drip down.

Next gen definately needs another soldier of fortune as well.

Next gen, if you're not careful, you'll be tripping over the millions of dead bodies of your enemy. And with, their juicy insides exposed, combined with inertial and mass based physics "tripping" routines, and liquid flow simulation of the blood, it's gonna be real, real messy.

In might be a game within a game, just to move around all those damn carcases.

bodies dissapearing doesn't affect the gameplay, so I'd wager that most gamers are neutral to whether it would really matter. Because of this, I think we'll still see bodies dissapearing in lots of games because it's easier for developers.

bodies does effect gameplay. It effects the Reward aspect of gameplay, Also it adds a ton to the atmosphere.

It definitely could affect the gameplay.

Some examples:

a) As I stated above, it could become a barrier (or aid) to movement. Can't reach that high shelf. Stack a couple of dead bodies and voila. :D

b) Bodies could rot over time and cause other animals/monsters to come around

c) Getting items off of dead people could become more than just their body disappearing and a floating key just standing there. You'd have to actually search the bodies. And if one person fell on another, you'd have to pull the one off to get to the other.

d) You can hack off body parts and use them later as strategic items

e) Their dead bodies could set off a warning independant of you being in a room if found by another NPC.

Really, the possibilities are endless.

I swear this could be the most overlooked Feature next gen.

I hope some Devs are reading this.

DEAD BODIES 4 LIFE!

*sigh* forget dead bodies...

I just want an action game with "final fantasy" type magic/spells with 100% destructable backgrounds..

I disagree, you still get the reward of blowing them away and having their head explode or whatever, it's just that when you leave the area or after a few moments they fade away.

Maybe it's just a personal preference thing, but I don't really see how it enhances the fundamental gameplay. It certainly does add to the atmosphere, but the balance between atmosphere and gameplay is something that the developers have to figure out.

Ok that's cool. I hadn't considered that.

It's considering you WANT that gameplay on your game.
If you don't need or want this gameplay, disappearing corpses saves memory.

Reminds of the original Doom where I would use all of the dead bodies on the ground to determine which way I had already come from. :lol

I agree though, disappearing bodies can become rather annoying but it is very taxing on the engine. You can see in RE 4 where in the beginning, the enemies stayed on the ground after you killed them but as the game progressed, they disintegrated. Next-gen could be a different story though. I would love to see the dead bodies of my enemies left on the ground and to have these corpses somehow affect the gameplay. Condemned is doing some brilliant stuff with how the blood splatters against the wall and then trickles down.

Wollan, as I stated earlier, that's only in the beginning of RE 4. PS2 version should be no different.

Will Dead Rising have disappearing bodies?
Nothing said either way, but considering the amount of zombies and the fact that you're probably going to have to backtrack through places you've already been. I'd be surprised as hell if there wasn't.

When you step on a corpse you could super-jump on the expelled gases.
