a vague suggestion that blockbuster will rent ds hardware?

i was just returning some movies. i saw a sign that had a picture of a ds along with the words "rent it." they didn't actually have any units for rent, and the clerk didn't know of any plans to offer them, but he mentioned that corporate usually springs things like that on him without much notice.

i'd really like to rent a ds. i could play feel the magic without buying hardware i don't want. actually rentals are a great way to deal with hardware launches generally. you get to sample the launch software and participate in the buzz without the cash outlay or the inevitable buyer's remorse that accompanies the inevitable post-launch drought. best way to sell the ds is probably to let people try it. i hope nintendo gets behind a ds rental initiative soon. they did with the virtual boy!
