a video for Rayman DS

Rayman 2 (aka DS) is a great game. If you haven't played it yet, I recommend it highly. Unfortunately I played it to death on the DC so I'm not terribly interested in a handheld version.

Of couse, if they added some new content and minigames a la Mario 64 DS, then that might change my mind.

...hmm

so for someone who's never played it? It's worth it?
I've only played 2d incarnations of Rayman and I thought they were pretty cool... hows this compare?

I'm going to have to say yes. There is something about the game that just makes it great. I've been waiting for it since the NA DS launch. It's an awesome game and if you havn't tried it you owe it to yourself to give it a go.

It's the best 3D platformer ever, only Mario 64 comes close. I'm not sure how the games plays on a DS, I would go with the DC version to be safe.

It does move at a decent clip. I wasn't sure it was at first because the movie was so dark

I watched all formats on HQ mode and couldn't see shit til I saved the movie, and upped all the settings in QT player.

Thanks for the high recommendation... looks like a Euro launch title to be picking up after all!

As much a Mario fan I am I must admit it surpasses Mario 64 in every way.

Looks okay, but I'm gonna pass for the time being. Had this come out at launch I probably would have picked it up, but I've grown used to now having games to buy for the system.

This game was incredibly, incredibly good on DC. After experiencing and not liking the controls for SM64port I wouldn't buy it, but if you like the transistion to touch screen for platformers I'd say get it.

It looks like it will control slightly different to Mario 64 DS though.
I've gotten used to touch screen on that, although I still find the pen far far better than the wrist strap thing... BUT what really annoys me in Mario 64 DS is the way the virtual analog follows the pen around the screen, like you're dragging it about when you don't want to. There's no set-center to snap back to. It makes doing some of Mario's signature moves, like his flips etc a bitch to learn

Rayman DS looks far better in this regard. A nice huge stick that is fixed, with fixed center and fixed extremeties. I like the look of it.

I just dislike it, it feels unnatural to me. And while playable, it's not fun, and hopefully there will be enough games built for the system some day that it won't be an issue. It pains me because as I said Rayman is wonderful, but it's an Achilles Heel with some N64 ports I'd actually like to see unfortunately. It does look like they made some changes to the control screens, but I think it's just a poor substitute for a game made for a stick.

How do we even know this is a port of Rayman 2? I love that game, but some places in that video I didn't recognise.. though it has been a while since I played it last.

For one check out esrb.com for it. It pretty much confirms it at part 2.
