Thanks a lot Koei, would it have killed you to allow for just one more digit?

:(

70 minutes of button mashing? does DW allow you to save in mid battle or do you have to complete it all in 1 go?

For DW5, it depends on the difficulty level. I was playing on Hard, so you only get one midgame save, and I used that just before taking on Lu Bu. Hard is pretty easy anyway, so it's not really needed.

Why 10K kills?

Why not?

Thing is, I was going through musou mode with Dian Wei because I hadn't unlocked Wan Castle yet. I was actually planning to use Guan Ping and his horrifyingly cheap true musou attack to go for 20K, I just didn't know at that point that the counter stopped at 9999. :/

"Why not?" Jeez, man :) Because spending 70 minutes just to rack up kills is a very inefficient way to earn points in the game, that's why.

DW5 might have given it higher importance but there's still very little reason to waste your time hitting anyone that doesn't have a name over their head in the game. People who hate the DW games seem to believe that all visible enemies on screen must be killed before going elsewhere, and I keep having to tell them that if you're not battling opponent officers through the entire campaign, you're playing it wrong.

Good god, you are completely missing the point here.

I want to kill over ten thousand enemies because I WANT TO KILL OVER TEN THOUSAND ENEMIES.

Yeah, points~

those things, y'know, the actual digits that serve to strengthen the character and such :)
Usually one wants to earn as many of these in as little time as possible.

But hey, if you want to get 10K kills for the sake of doing so, there's not much I can say in reply.

Here's how my typical musou mode goes. Pick character, equip Hex Mark, light orb, tiger amulet and serpent earrings. Scum the everliving fuck out of the first battle. Shitload of ATK, 9999 points, third item slot. Add a green scroll. If the attack bar isn't maxed, keep the serpent earrings and scum the next. If it is, switch the serpent earrings for the wind scroll. At this point, the following three to five battles will take me less than ten minutes a pop just killing all sub-officers and generals. As far as efficiency goes, points don't even compare to ATK.

In this particular case, it was Dian Wei's second battle. I had just gotten a second weapon and I noticed that his C5 covered an unusually large area, which made it ideal for fast killing. At the rate I was going, 10K looked like a sure bet, so I went for it. Because killing ten thousand is fucking cool.

Damn you, Koei. :(
