This is a lot of money

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers got paid, and then some.

The Packers and Rodgers have agreed to terms on a four-year, $134 million extension, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Network's James Jones reported, per a source informed. Rodgers also receives a record $57.5 million signing bonus and will earn more than $80 million by March, Rapoport added.

The media will write a big story about how many times more this is than a minimum wage worker, like they do for CEOs, right?

He's an incredible quarterback, got one of the best arms in history.
He'sgetting up there in age, and too injury prone to justify that contract though.

I only hope that after he's finally over his prime, the Jets pick him up for a huge sum of money to throw interceptions.

As it was, it shall be

We all know the woke athletes are exempt from the wage gap debate. Did you doze off during the sj orientation again?

On top AR deserves every dollar here. Best QB in NFL.

And GB will continue to be on the cusp until he's gone, I guess. The problem with paying almost 30 mill per year for your QB is that unless your GM is a god in the draft, you just can't afford the supporting cast you need. QB is important, but plenty of teams have won Super Bowls with mediocre ones. If your defense sucks, you're just not gonna do it, and the cost of good role players has been going up.

I mean good for him for getting his money, but a contract like that is gonna cripple his teams ability to pay other players and get high level talent.

Nope. It was a front loaded contract that is actually saving $15 mil in cap space over the life of the extension compared to his current contract. Time for Gute to go get Mack now.

He's not even as good as Brett Favre used to be.

I do enjoy watching players like Aaron and Matt Ryan, whom I distinctly remember watching play college football, nearing retirement. Next step: me nearing retirement and watching players that are all 30-40 years younger than I.
