AC: Unity's devs: 60FPS doesn't look real and is less cinematic, 30FPS feels better

If you told me that their PR secretely works for another software house in order to make Ubisoft look like fool, I'd totally believe that.

Why... why does Ubisoft allow anybody to do interviews anymore? It's clearly just going to result in bad things. They have hundreds of employees across the board, somebody's going to end up saying something bluntly stupid like this.

Universal gag order. Now.

Ubisoft is on fire lately! lmao

It's okay, Ubi.
I won't buy another Ass Creed game after your "Parity" decision.
No need for more bad press for your game ;)

3 utterly stupid remarks by Ubi devs so far regarding this game.

They seriously must have laid off all the PR staff at Ubi.

Just insane they would allow them to spout this drivel time and time again. I just hope Ubi wise up and get them some training in how to say this stuff rather than just gag them.

Three?

I've only seen this one and the "parity to stop debate" screwups.

What's the third stupid?

Is this real life.

You know .. while i completely understand all the shit this quote will get on the internet .. I agree with it but on a case to case basis.

Some games just don't 'feel' good at 60 FPS.

I think for Assassin's Creed in particular, it isn't going to make that much of a difference.
So because it is hard to achieve, you guys are going to give up since you guys lack talents?
Can't wait to see how awesome your brand new/ground up engine is!
Because it's even feasible to create an open world game and have it render at 60fps on underpowered hardware and still look like a modern 'next gen' title.

And lets be honest here.

Since when did Ubisoft games ever manage to hit 30fps to begin with, let alone 60?

Yeah, you are right.
I will take back my post.
This is on par with their talent level.
We shouldn't be mad since they are trying to achieve their maximum efficiency by continuing to provide us with a consistent product like their past games.

Based Ubisoft. Always consistent and truthful.

Now we know why Ubisoft's games are the way they are. Most of them are not actually playing games, based on these statements.

That's funny because the most cinematic games I've played this year, The Last of Us Remastered and Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes, both had 60fps cutscenes and were made FAR more cinematic because of it.

I cant wait for next gen when every game will be 60FPS, and people asking Ubi to make all their games at 30FPS (ironically) because they said it's more cinematic

Should have stopped at saying it was 'too hard', guys. I can accept admitting defeat and having to compromise. Closed box consoles are going to have limits. Resorting to this nonsense just sounds like excuses, and funny enough actually creates the very 'debates and stuff' you didn't want. If you don't want to be called out on bullshitting, it's best to not bullshit in the first place. Heck, they could have even said that they don't care and that would have been a better statement too.

Real life is 24 fps as everyone knows, it's in the movies AND documentaries, so it's both cinematic AND realistic.

They give us 30 (with slowdowns) because they are very generous.

Exactly.

Actually real life is 'infinite' frames per second. PC is the only one trying to transcend into reality

Would rather the increased visual detail at 30fps, so cheers Ubi. There are plenty of us out there who agree with your decision, and the game does look utterly stunning. Damn shame you couldn't get it to 1080p on PS4, though. That I can't understand.

I can't believe game developers of all people spew this bullshit

It seems worth noting that developers claiming 30 FPS is more "cinematic", "feels better", or even more laughably "suits the experience" is just as absurd as people claiming that the silky smooth 48 FPS Hobbit trilogy feels weird and ruins the movie.

What in the actual fuck?

These people don't play games, now I get some of those great design choices they do.
