Activist Group Calls For Major Switch 2 Boycott

Even this isn't enough to get me to buy a Switch 2. Almost worked though. Not gonna lie. Spite activists is its best advertisement yet.

Charging $100 for their games is fucking crazy. Especially since their studios are known to be smaller and their games are way smaller in scope. You getting kick-backs for shilling?

Sure. What I say is that this whole argument is very easy to shoot down.

Prices is something that can only be protested against by not buying. The PS5 Pro had a similar backlash from youtubers and then they all bought it. Peak hipocrisy on their part and idiocy on their followers.

The best these people can do is to lower the prices, which would be a benefit to all of us.

And the worst (and most likely scenario) is that it leads to nothing.

Some act like these people are going to kill their mothers. Wtf is going on in here?

It definitely will not. If anything they'll raise Switch 2 prices on hardware if they feel that $80 is the absolute cap for most gamers' threshold of tolerance for game prices. They never once lowered the price of any Switch console, ever, not even the Lite. And the generation lasted over 8 years. Not only that, they *raised* price on all Switch 1 models after Switch 2 launched, to little-to-no fanfare. If the loud voices after the price announcement of Switch 2 games and the console on April 2nd didn't get them to lower the price, nothing will. That moment was our opportunity to get them to listen and respond to the feedback. It was nowhere near loud enough.

Sales would have to languish for a prolonged period and the trajectory of the system's install base growth would have to severely flatten, before they would consider price drops. That is the only thing that would work at this point. Unfortunately for anyone wanting to save money and holding out for Nintendo to drop prices, Switch 2 is actually selling really well. So that's not likely anytime soon. People may have whined at first, but we're buying it in droves.

I talk to guys at work and they pay $500 for one new golf club out of the fourteen they need, and $100+ for a teetime that gives four hours of entertainment. Many of them will go out less than ten times in a whole year, I live in a place with very inclement winters. Gaming as a primary hobby is still a bargain compared to most things, even with prices going up a bit.

I can understand when activists fight for fundamental issues. Environment, health, freedom, equality... all understandable and even important.

I think the whole thing is a bit excessive for a games console. An entitlement to luxury items and their availability and affordability... I don't know.

If you don't like it, you don't have to buy it.

Got mine for £70 at launch... People often confuse the RRP with what you actually pay. I don't think I have ever paid full price for a physical game at launch. Plus Nintendo have priced the digital versions cheaper as well... Faux outrage as usual.

What region are you in? Mario Kart World is $80 in the US, and DKB is only $90 even if you figure in the DLC, which is a silly thing to do, since you can get plenty of non-Nintendo games up to $100 once you include DLC, season passes, and other premium bundles.

The Duskbloods doesn't even have a release date, let alone an official price yet, so I have no idea where you're getting the idea that it's $100 from.

MKW was supposed to be $90 but they dropped it to $80. Point still remains, their games are not worth $80. They're not even worth $70. Their teams are small, and their production is not huge. They don't have VA in most games and production value is small as well. They are $60 games at best.

This isn't true. It was listed at $80 USD on the official website immediately after the Switch 2 reveal event ended. If you honestly believe this, you got taken in by grifters.

Other than the reality we're in with hardware going up, Switch 2 would have to have a monumental sales drop off for Nintendo to even put a seconds thought into dropping price. The 3Ds launch numbers were clearly underwhelming enough for them to do it in that context, but that was also in a window of time where the Wii had dropped off and the Wii U hadn't come out yet( and we all know how that went). Nintendo pretty much had to jump-start 3Ds sales as there was no other device running concurrently alongside it that could stem the tide. They're kind of in the same boat now as far as it being all or nothing off the back of one device, actually even moreso because they condensed their entire hardware strategy to a single platform. But we don't what metrics Nintendo would be using for a 'code red' situation. Even if hardware sales tampered off somewhat next year they may still be making enough on software, services and peripherals. Only they know where the line is and I imagine alot of these companies are just trying to ride the wave until some degree of normalcy with 'macroeconomic conditions' ( if such a thing is possible at the moment).

You fabricated three $100 games, one of which hasn't even been priced and dated yet. There's no illusion that you are or have ever been operating in good faith. Edit: I just looked at the article. That's false information from a dishonest source. The Insider Gaming article they link to confirms that Mario Kart World was $80 at the time of publication. The $90 bit is based on a conversion of the European price from euros to dollars, and has absolutely nothing to do with the US price, which was always $80USD.

Mario kart was always going to be $80. It's $50 if you're getting a Switch 2 and want the game anyway - most people payed that price for it.
Including a bundle is idiotic. DK just came out a few months ago and has dlc.
No Duskbloods isn't going to be $100 either. Where are you getting that information?

You can not like Nintendo for whatever arbitrary reason to make you feel better but stop making shit up.
