Adaptation Wishlist: What'd be your dream AAA game adaptation of a movie or book?

If you could turn one book or movie into a AAA game, what would it be? Also, pick a developer for your dream project and add some details how it should play out.

Mine would be: The Mistborn Trilogy (1-3) by Brandon Sanderson.

Details: I'm surprised that no game dev has made this wonderful series into a AAA game yet. It has an amazing lore and it lends itself perfectly to modern-day video games because it explains all the magic and traversal systems so well and in detail. I'd like if the game is a AAA open-world action-adventure game with light RPG elements. Good animations would be a must!

Developers: I thnk Sony Santa Monica would be perfect for this job because of how well they can do magical fantasy. Other excellent options would be Insomniac or Sucker Punch because of their pedigree in traversal freedom (Spider-Man and Infamous).

My second choice would Jason Bourne. A globe-trotting linear third-person blockbuster action game with top-notch set pieces. I think Naughty Dog would be great for that game.

The Old Kingdom trilogy by Garth Nix. Necromancy and magic (wild + controlled), a story with some nice plot twists and would make a nice action/adventure game.

Conn Iggulden's Conqueror series.

His Dangerous Book for Boys books could also be a fun, perhaps top-level indie game.

Maybe something based on Wilbur Smith’s Egyptian series. Some of the best books I’ve ever read, especially Warlock - incredibly visceral and vivid.

I can imagine some pretty cool open world games from Blade Runner or Stephen King's The Stand. Issac Asimov's Robot series would be a great detective game kind of like LA Noire. Or Asimov's Foundation series. Would be an ideal galactic conquest strategy game.

Isn't that what Middle Earth games are? (aside from being the trilogy adaptation)
The Shadow of Mordor/War?

They have a very different set and set of characters. The scope seems fairly limited when it's not the end-of-the-world scenario, and you don't meet characters like Aragorn and Gandolf. It's just different.

Berserk and Gantz. Both by FromSoftware.

Open world adventure for the former more traditional narrative focused game and missions for the latter. Fits in the souls gameplay loop with big horrifying enemies and odds stacked against you.

From's work on the Souls titles are heavily influenced by Kentaro Miura work and games play a lot of homage to Berserk. I'd like to see what they could do with the full source material and in extension to the manga and/or beyond.

Alastair Reynolds, Revelation Space series. Could make a pretty cool Mass Effect type game.
Diamond Dogs would make a awesome Returnal type game with the Alien structure they would just have to take the body modification stuff from the story with your character slowly losing more and more of their human body as they adapt to the towers trials. Idk I like the idea of a MC who starts human but through choice/upgrades/plot etc physically changes.

Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
A few months ago I would have said Rogue Trader RPG. In fact I have said Rogue Trader a few months ago but it turns out my wish was granted and Owlcat Games is actually working on one

Movie: Escape from New York

Developer: Kojima Productions

Need I say more?

Book: The Mark of Zorro

Developer: Sucker Punch

A bit of cheating here as I havent read the book. Mashing the Zorro IP with Ghost of Tsushima would be massive. Get Antonio Banderas to voice Don Diego De La Vega.

There are actually 3 Discworld games, and yes they're good.
The third one is a very loose adaptation of "Guards!". First game is hard as fuck, get a walkthrough ready.
Thanks, i've looked it up and it seems GOG doesn't have the games but i will look into other "sources".

A Phoenix Force game. Modelled after the series, but an original story. Set in the 80s.
First or third person shooter. Team based (obviously), but single player focused. Ghost Recon style, but with extreme violence and gore, just like the books.

Inception (dir. Christopher Nolan, 2010), developed by Quantic Dream.

You can imagine the type of game.

Mine would have to be "A L I E N S". Before you say "Ugh, there's been Alien games!" let me stress I want a
game that is pretty much a direct remake in playable game form. Not "Colonial Marines", nor "Isolation".

This is a full blown, AAA, amazing looking, playing and sounding "ALIENS" movie adaption.

A FPS action, shooter.
