I notice 'addicting' being used from time to time on this board and others. Addicting and addictive both seem to be valid having looked both up to be sure... but google war says Addictive is more common (I know that's what I use):

I never even heard "addicting" before GAF and some other internet forums. It just seems unecessary. Addictive all the way.

"Addicting" is not a valid synonym for "addictive". People who use it are wrong.

Personally I feel it should be a banning offence.

Really, just don't use "addicting".

Addictive is a trait.
Addicting is an action.

A game like Tony Hawk possesses a trait. It doesn't perform the action of addiction. In most cases, addictive should be used.

This game is addictive.
That girl's personality is addictive.
This drink is addictive.
Cigs are addictive. Etc.
