Additional Sega beta discs on eBay

I was searching for "sega demo" and stumbled upon that Snatcher dev release, which I posted, which then turned into me finding a seller selling a bunch of different beta discs. Almost certainly a current, or ex-Sega employee, I only wish I had the money for them. =(

Although if there were a Sonic Adventure beta I'd spend hundreds on that.

I was in a SegaNet beta test for the game. It's not a development level GD-R like the ones in these auctions. I think it's actually a production quality disc....except that it has no labeling on it whatsoever. You can see that inner sector around the disc, and the slightly hologrammatic "SEGA ENTERPRISES" bit that encircles the security sector.

I've never seen one up for sale before, so I'm not sure if that makes it more rare and valuable, or if they're just not in demend.

Hmm I have a whole bunch of pre-production GDs including Skies of Arcadia and Rez.
I also have betas of Fighting Vipers 2 and Grandia 2.

Wait, this post wasn't very interesting. :(

... send them to me. :(

I don't think he was necessarily a Sega employee... he also has a Nintendo GameCube Hobbit NR Reader disc and a Game Boy Color Looney Tunes Collector Alert! dev cart up for sale.

Speaking of, it seems that there was a lot of ruckus at the Acclaim fire sale, people bought things, but somehow LEFT THEIR LOTS at the company, and overnight ninjas (warning: may not be ninjas, but still) came in, and stole all the developpement hardware and a shitload of prototype games and unreleased titles.

Assembler himself got a shitload of stuff swapped from his lot too. Some people who had spent lots of money for expensive stuff ended up with worthless things.

So far this week , it's been bad.

A fellow collector had his entire lot stolen.
$900 and a boxload of unreleased n64, snes, and gb all gone.

Tampering:

My lots were altered, items swapped or pulled until I paid more money, sometimes 3-4x more money. All of the sudden $250 becomes $1000, after knock down.

NR burner gone and sent to nintendo.
Broken dev units swapped into previously inspected lots of good units.
My two PSTOOL gone.

They are , by disclaimer, not responsible for items left after auction.
I came in at about 10am the day after, and the poor guy was jacked of all his betas.

Good thing I kept pictures of lots as bid on and inspected so I could compare.

threads of interest:
- random unreleases titles
- Various loots (some pics may not load)
- Riots at acclaim's

I would have killed for those unreleased snes/nes titles. But I have no idea how those fucking idiots left all their shits overnight. All the money in the world combined with the street smart sense of a retarded 10 years old.

People are dumb

Did anybody get beta discs of The Red Star at the Acclaim auction? Can we hope that it might get torrented if the game is truly never going to be published?

Has anyone here played Half-Life on the DC?

i played it half way through. it had...issues.

major frame rate issues, and plenty of glitches, including corrupted game saves. among other oddities. it was fun while it lasted but became too much work just to get running. that may have been partially the fault of my copy though. but the game did seem to have quite a few issues of its own.

I've got an *ahem* version of it. I don't remember anything being particularly wrong with it, although I think it was seeking the disc a lot.

Probably the status of my disc. ;)

My version was fine. My roommate got pretty far into it. Saving and loading was a bit much, though.

On that note, I bought some sort of Saturn Dev Kit off of eBay a long while ago. It looks like a PCI card, but it's about a footlong, comes with a weird cable and a half-corrupted floppy disk. It was missing some CD, though.

I didn't realise people had such a hard-on for these DC betas. I have tonnes of them. I could make a fortune.

Do people also have hard-ons for current gen betas? Then I could retire!

Edit: DC wise I have some good ones as well... most of those ones are shit!

I played it beggining to end without much difficulty. The only real issue was the loading...long and numerous. Framerate dipped a bit at times, but still very playable.

Gearbox even put in some easter eggs. If you smashed open the boxes, sometimes you would see a VMU or a Dreamcast Half-Life CD fly out.

Man, I remeber throwing away a very large box of GD disc during the final days of gamefan.com/express :( Although I do still have the original DC Sega boot disc that is needed to run the orange GD burns, wonder if that would fetch anything nowadays.
