I'm playing through awars ds again trying to S rank the campaign and i've run into a bit of trouble. Basically I don't understand the points system. I was just playing level 22 crystal calamity and I did really good. Smashed the opposition really fast and thought "s rank for sure" but then i get a 40 for power and a B rank :( I thought Power was the amount of units you destroyed for them, so I played again, destroyed all of the units that team produced and then got 67 for power. but then my speed dropped from 100 down to about 94 and I still got a b rank.

Then I played mission 23 and its a non deployment map. I destroyed every single enemy unit on the map and got 70 for power. whats the deal?

in short, my question is as follows

1. how exactly do I max the 3 stats at the end of the game? technique is for how many units you produce/lose, speed is turns and power is ?

and its probably explained in the book, but the euro version doesn't have english in the manual.

Power is based on the number of enemy units you destroy in a single turn. I'll try to see if I can't find the exact percentage you need to get 100.

EDIT: Got it. You need to destroy 10% of enemy units in a single turn.

:O ok then, well that makes things easier, so a tag move is obviously the best bet to take care of that stat then. it's the only one I was really having problems with. Thanks.

oh, three more questions, to S rank the campaign, how many levels are you allowed to not get an S rank on? And must you find all the hidden missions and how many of those hidden missions are there?
I've found 2 I think, the two they tell you about with plans hidden in bases or whatever

such an awesome game.

There is three hidden missions (one for Black boat, Black bomb and Pipe runner, I think).

For clarity, the scores :

Power : you need to kill 10% of the units produced by the computer in a single day, with the army that finishes the mission..

Technique : You need to lose less than 20% (10% in war room) of the units you produced, with all allied armies taken into account. If you lose 45%, you get 120-45=75% for example. Best method consists in building a lot of infantry at the end of the mission.

For the overall S-Rank, I don't know, I would say it's a mean of the scores.

Doesn't anybody find it way easier than previous ones ?

Edit : if you need the exact score for power, it's :
10*(number of units destroyed in one day by the victorious army)/(total number of units produced by enemy)
The value is rounded down, and of course any score greater than 100 simply gives 100...

CHRIST. I just lost mission 23 because the computer had one infrantry left after the 18th turn. :-(

i've been stuck on the mission with the sattalite for ages now, they keep getting a damn ground troup to a rocket before me or i run out of days.

any pointers on that one?

To get an S rank, you need 280 points or more, before bonus points are added.

Yeah, averaged out across the entire campaign. Doesn't matter if you do bonus missions or not.

I take Rachel on the bottom to missile the gunk between her and the main base. Put a soldier in a helicopter on the first turn and send it out to her leftmost silo. Stick Grimm or Hawke in the left army. Position the light tank and the artillery to hold and destroy the medium tank out of the range of the black cannon. Use the APC and send a few troops down. Get the rightmost silo first, but you shouldn't have any trouble with the enemy capturing these. Put Sasha in the lead of the green army. You'll need a rocket launcher within a few turns to go out and kill the black cannon and a couple of antiaircraft guns and a light tank to move south and secure the silo with about three infantry. You have to be fairly aggressive there, and don't be afraid to dip down and hit the bottom two silos before you might be able to kill the black cannon. Be aware of where the enemy is and stick an AA gun on top of a silo if you need to wait for your infantry to catch up. With Sasha in the green army, she'll be able to use her level 1 CO power to wipe out the enemy's power meter. Should be able to completely prevent Black Hole from ever using Tag Power. Jake goes well as the secondary CO on the bottom because of his bonus with Rachel or in the East because of his performance on the plains. I'd take Jess in whatever position is left over. You should be able to take down the satellite in around ten turns, and then use your triple-mission, a rocket and medium/neotank to bust through the pipe above Rachel's base and finish the mission.

It's all about the green team.

blue:
blue is easy to do, the artillary and tank will take out the md tank, cap the base and the com towers pretty quick and build a lander as soon as possible to get that island missle way. I use Jess and Javier for that one.

red: colin and sensei work good for me here, build lots with colin and then switch to sensei for the fighting. I build a t copter early and send 1 infantry in that to the far away missile and the other 2 on foot for the other 2 missiles.

for green, you should be able to take out 1 of the copters with the anti air cannon right away, then you just have to get an infantry to the bottom rocket via a t copter pretty quickly. he will die, but you can usually launch 2 missiles with him.

I can't S rank that mission though, I keep screwing up the power rank (prompted me to make this thread).

If you mean the silos near the green army then just build some fast tanks so that you can protect the silos instead of trying to rush to them with infantry.

In case anyone was as dumb as me, did you know that when you are above rank 1 for any CO you can assign them extra skills with X button in the CO select menu? Made it to mission 23 the second time through before I discovered that :lol

once again, my books not in english :D

i was that dumb - i got the skills awarded at the end of a mission i was half asleep finishing in bed late one night and totally forgot about them until i finished the campaign and started working through the war room maps

I still S ranked every campaign level - and about all but 5 i S ranked on my first attempt! So far i havn't failed to S rank a single war room map either and i've done the 1st 7 2 CO maps using all 4 skill sets (1 CO no skils, 1 CO + skills, 2 CO no skills, 2 CO + skills) - its DEFINATELY a lot easier than the previous 2...

Still loving it tho - I've put 40 hours into it so far. Loved the combat mode as well, even though i havnt touched it since i completed it enough to get all 3 medals for each difficulty and for number of times lost (had to purposely lose about 15 times to get the last one for that!)

I love the new medals stuff - makes me change up the way i play the game a lot as ill be constantly thinking which types of units i need to use more of to get the medals for making them instead of relying on a few certain kinds like i would have in previous games..

I put about 100+ hours into both AV and AV2 but im expecting a lot more hours out of this one!

You can do up to four if your COs are at least rank 4. You get new skills at ranks 1-9 and again for completing regular and hard campaigns.
