OK, so here's the deal:
I had an antenna guy come around and install a TV/FM antenna point in my room. Cost me about 115$ AU...
so I could finally get the use out of my TV/FM pc card that I paid for a couple years back.
Only problem is, when any connection from the antenna point touches my computer, something tries to use my antenna point as the ground... not been designed for that kinda thing, the electrical system in the house trips. 99% likely that something is my PC... something in my PC.
The thing is, my PC absolutely fine, if it connects to the TV, power point... but not to the antenna.
If there's any sort of circuit between the antenna point and the PC, the circuit trips; including a connection between my computer and TV and a connection between the TV and antenna points...
incidentally, the antenna point works just fine; tested with a multimeter, no electrical current runs through it; connected to just the TV, sends a beautiful signal to the TV.
... but my rabbit ear antennas, though not superb was apt at sending a watchable signal to the TV, so the only reason for the whole endeavor was really for me to get a TIVO style device outta my comp...
at this point, I can't even have clear reception on my TV and have my PC output to the TV for watching videos on the PC... which I'd settle with.
So does anyone have any advice? Anyone I could take it to, talk to. Anyone been in a similar situation before?
Other details of the situation includes;
a wooden floor on which the PC sits
the same results happening regardless of power point to which the PC is connected (have 3 in my room, tested on all).
During testing and installation, I shocked myself twice, once touching the cable from the antenna point and a live PC, tripping the switch, and once touching the cable from the antenna point and the sound out jacks from my speaker pod...
I think my left arm is tingling...the skin is looking like its peeling where I got shocked.
