AI video are getting crazy

I doubt it.

How much does the AI need to advance to make everything that compose a vg?

Maybe you can make simple walking simulator like hb2 but stuff like diablo or elden ring where there is all the logistic of loot, stats, balancement etc it's gonna be a bitch to handle.

It can already do the bare basics at the moment with text prompts.

This is super basic, but it's a start. With how quickly AI is advancing, I'd say it'll be possible to have tools to make your dream game in less than a decade.

I think that 10 years are not enough, i just don't see a dude in his couch making rdr3 while he eat nachos :lollipop_grinning_sweat:

It's kinda scary to think that in 10 years you are gonna be able to produce your own media entertainment without much difference from what rockstar can produce now in 10 years of work, with thousands of people involved and 2 billions budget, the more i think about it, the more i think that 10 years are not enough.

I was very confused for few second when watching the video not knowing its AI. It was recommeded by Youtube. Its funny and horrifying at the same time:

The next generation is so fucked. They're growing up in this age where they know everything can be faked and yet people still believe almost everything they read if it looks like an official source. For some reason, most can't shake this urge. And with a broken media that has no way to vet itself that cares more about getting clicks and being outlandish than being accurate. Feels like media fact-checking is dead outside of a few places.

They're already been using AI to make games...they just call it "procedurally-generated content." It's an AI monitoring the playing style of the player and designing levels accordingly. I tend to avoid these types of games since they usually get repetitive but they're already out there and many are quite popular. There's also a lot of AIs that create shovelware games that folks have on their phones...simple puzzle or slot games and such.

Sure, but making assets or other simple things are hardly making an entire, functional videogame.

Even the smaller indies have dozens of people working on them when you look at the credits.

I hope you guys are right tho.

I think 10 years will be enough. There are some who believe we're fast approaching the singularity (Ray Kurzwell has just published a fantastic book on this subject) and when we look at how AI has advanced in the past two years, it's not a far reach to suggest we'll be able to use to design our own games in the 2030s.

Agreed. In that time frame people will be able to make their own feature leangth films.

After that, I'm sure you'll then be able to make full length games, all with just text prompts.
Nah, energy cost will prohibit the use to this extend. All these AI companies eat the energy cost at the moment, building atom reactors to reduce cost etc. These billions will have to be recouped at some point.

Big corporations will pay a hefty monthly fee to get access to that kind of AI, you and I will receive a dumped down version, as if they would give us these tools for free.

Look at what Adobe is asking for their creative suite and multiply by a factor of at least a hundred.
