VN+Something else is what makes me appreciate the genre more. Just getting a decision once every ten minutes or so isn't enough, great hybrid games that string the story along as the ultimate carrot is what turns them up to 11.
You would literally get a better representation of the game by not playing it and watching a Let's Play. Hell, reading a straight transcript of the game would be better than the iOS version.
I guess because I'm perfectly fine playing just plain VNs, it doesn't bug me much. It's cool if the game adds something else to the mix, but as long as the writing is there a plain VN is cool as well. I think it's dumb they didn't find a way to port the puzzles to mobile, but I also don't think it's a completely invalid way to experience the game.
To be fair, it still includes (almost? been a while since I've played) all the story-relevant text, adds a much better skip option with the flowchart, and only costs $5. There's also the extra ending but to be fair it doesn't amount to much of anything.

999 still has the Text Skipping option, though.
I imagine that, if you 100%ed VLR you must have put something like 40-50 hours into it.
999 is shorter than that, maybe 20-30 hours.
You have to do some puzzles a few times, but since you know the answers on your second way through they shouldn't be much of a hassle anyways.
Just make sure you get the Safe ending before the Coffin ending.
Technically it's been out a while - the Vita and PS3 versions have been out a few weeks in Europe, and the only difference between the US release, given that everything's region free, is a slight price difference and the ESRB rating over the PEGI one. If you had a PS3, you could be playing it tonight. The PS3/Vita version uses the same translation as the official PC release from last spring, which in turn used a cleaned-up, 5pb-approved version of the fan translation from some time before that.
As for the anime: aside from the OVA and movie it really only sums up the plot of the game, compressing things and changing a handful of minor points. It only focuses on one ending, so the others wouldn't be spoiled if you planned on watching it first, but frankly there's no point if you plan on playing the game.

I started watching the Steins Gate anime a while back upon friend's advice. At the time I didn't know it was a VN originally. When I found out I abandoned the anime and delved deep into the VN.
Amazing stuff, it takes a while to carburate, but once it does, I can safely say this is the best time-travel piece of art EVER, taking every aspect of the matter into consideration. I'm planning to try the other ";" games at some point.
Anyways. Regarding the CQD Titanic stuff, according to a site, the originale message from Titanic was CQD MGY.
CQD stands for "Seek you, Distress", while MGY was the " license plate" of Titanic. So, if the next letters are MGY we can be assured we're talking about the Titanic...

I decided against a private twitch chat the people that were joining were the majority of the people watching. I'll probably be in the twitch chat.
I think twitch + GAF will work best. Adding Skype to the mix would be fun but it might not work all that well if we all talk at the same time while the panel is on and also try to follow the chat/GAF.

Surely someone will make a thread for the Aksys stream over on the Gaming side....and the second Zero Escape 3 is annouced someone will make a new thread for it. So yeah, going over to the Gaming side is probably the best way to go. I'm going to be getting up at 5:30am on a Saturday, so the trailer had better be damn amazing! You here me Aksys!

I think the announcement will be a combination of one or more of the following:
A ze anime adaptation
Ze ports
A kickstarter announcement for ze3
Possibly other vn localizations like infinity games
I really think our best chances with ze3 are if its a crowd funding campaign being launched.
Everything makes more sense in that scenario.
The more I think about it, the more perfect it would be for them to crowd fund it at the hype climax. And that's why they had to be quiet about it.. Kickstarters take time to plan and build and require careful timing.
I've been skeptical from the beginning that this was ze related.. But the direct titanic reference has changed my mind.
I will also add this though: if it is in fact 3, I would absolutely expect uchikoshi to be there, either in person or at least by video conference.

I wouldn't be happy with that.
Zero Escape is a series that you cannot adapt to anime or any TV format properly in my opinion.
The VLR OVA doesn't really count as it's basically just a commercial for the game.

Maybe, I thought so a few days ago and then they added 3 letters in under 24h.
If anyone wants to give it a try, here's the words sorted by the time they first appeared (minus the two coordinates):
ring (s) , coin (l), ice cream (s) , firefighter (r) , shotgun (s) , Gab (s) , 1/216 (s) , CUT-HERE (r) , shift (s), portrait (s), psychopath (l), 50 m (l), C (s), Q (s), [D(s)]
(s=static, l=left, r=right)
A simple caesarian shift looks unlikely because we wouldn't get those normal looking words if every letter is shifted by the same number.
I still think there's an anagram in there (that starts with a G) and that we need to make smaller groups out of the words. But there's a few ways of doing it (e.g. static vs. moving, left vs. right vs. static).
"CUT-HERE" still strikes me as an instruction (the only word completely in capital letters + on a different header in the source code). We've tried cutting all words after the 3rd letter, but what about making two groups of words,
"the words that appeared before + CUT" vs. "HERE + the words that appeared after cut-here"
