I am not Alex Ross expert, not even aficionado, but ALL the stuff I've seen from him rocks. Hard.

And this one looks amazing.

There's an actual Gatchaman release coming?

I bought the first few US DVDs that had Gatchaman eps on it, and they were tremendous. What's this supposed to include?

There's no way this will lead to a release of every episode, is there? I really want to see the last few.

Created by the award-winning Japanese animation house Tatsunoko Productions (Speed Racer, Robotech), the original Gatchaman series has never been aired or released on home video in North America in its original uncut form. ADV’s brand new seven volume collector’s series will contain all 105 episodes of the original uncut Japanese series with a brand new English dub, including 20 episodes never before seen in the U.S., along with newly released features and extras that any true fan of Gatchaman, Battle of the Planets, and G-Force cannot do without!

I'm a complete idiot when it comes to Japanese animation. I've only ever watched Akira and Ghost in the Shell (movies, SAC1 and 2).

The other anime Ive seen is underwheling at best (compared to hype).

Can someone tell me, as a fan of animation, why I should watch Gatchaman??

Ok, you'll probably be underwhelmed by this too, especially 'cos it's from the early 70s and looks like it.

Basically Gatchaman has:
- cool action
- cool characters
- awesome funky 70s feel
- goofy enemies
- very silly dialogue

It's a good anime to play drinking games with, and it also pretty much invented the whole "color coded fighting team" genre by itself. It's quite nice.

Gatchaman drinking games are awesome.

The expressions on the non-costumed versions of the characters are kind of creepy.

It looks absolutely amazing wrapped around the box... just saw it an hour ago at Best Buy. Price isn't too bad either, at $23.

Sorry, Spaniard here.

How do you play drinking games with anime? I had heard of drinking games dealing with coins, dice, cards.. but never anime.

Anybody?
