Which Ripley?

Just please stop.

Hollywood writers when they have to bring back an old beloved character but it's a woman so they can't use their standard strategy of making them depressed and replaced by a strong independent woman.

Easy instant dismissal, but then I see Walter Hill writing. Damn, been burned by the older creators just not cutting it in their later years and the dude is over 80 now, but he did The Warriors, 48 Hours, The Getaway, Southern Comfort, Aliens.

No. Even if he nails a good script the studio will screw it up some how.

Alien Romulus sucked . When add up the good Vs the bad. Majority of them suck.

Romulus was one of my top three Alien movies, I don't get why you guys didn't like it. It was tense from beginning to end and did some great world-building. Sure, the initial crew was annoying but the main protagonists were top notch imo

I remember back in '97, Drew's Script-o-Rama website came out with a load of unshot/early draft movie scripts and I read a few Alien 3 ones.

One that vaguely stayed with me was William Gibson's version that featured a shopping mall. Ripley is in a coma, Hicks, Bishop, and Newt are alive with a host of new characters.

I wonder how that script stood up over the years.

It had worse writing then even Prometheus, which was already a cluster fuck of stupid decisions...how can anyone like it?

I'm not someone who will say that dumb movies are not allowed, but both those movies came from 2 of the best sci-fi horror/action movies ever made with the first two Alien movies. They were both smartly written compared to the dogshit that Prometheus and Romulus were.

Romulus somehow managed to be worse with characters that were beyond stupid, but must have had brain damage.

Dude, wtf, it wasn't even close to the dumb decisions the imbeciles of Prometheus made, they were a bunch of desperate kids and most of the shit they did was out of desperation or love for their friends, it wasn't even close to actual scientists acting like the biggest morons on the universe

The writing was also pretty good imo, the relationship between the two "siblings" was interesting, the plot kept getting more and more tense and honestly the only moment the movie fucked up was with the fucking CGI android which I bet was a studio decision

Her character died, are they f'n up lore again?
All they have to do is a nightmare fake out of Alien 3 and just start where Aliens ended. Aging can be explained away by drifting in space again. They can be picked up by a colonization vessel like in Covenant and be landing on a remote planet that also has Xenomorph unbeknownst to them. Maybe David can also make an appearance. Having sequels that bridge the narrative with prequels is tight.

Nailed that one, well done.

My question is, how do they bring her back? Hasn't she already died twice in the series?

Since this series is technically sci-fi and now attached to Predator at the hip, my guess is time travel.

Disney will have a chance to bust out the de-aging tech again like they did for Harrison Ford.

But this kind of goes against my theory of them wanting to keep it safe, so maybe it will be even dumber than that.

This would be about 15 years late man...
Besides. wasn't Neill Blomkamp supposed to shoot/was in the talks about a sequel with both Ripley, Hicks and Newt years ago ?

It could have been cool and surely better than the utter garbage we got (Prometheus/Covenant/Romulus).

UUuuuuuuugh. No.

AFAICT there is no gatekeeper of Alien lore, someone I would trust to greenlight good content. Alien:Earth having 200+ million spent on it tells me there is no one reading scripts and thinking clearly.

So dragging Weaver out again smacks of desperation rather than answering some long standing audience desire.

Was really bummed when Neils version was canned. He is the closest weve got to an younger Cameron these days. I wish hollywood would bankroll him more often.
