You are right, but it does it job, it wakes my interest again, what all these slightly different Xenomorphs are.
I mean, it makes sense, when they go the DNA-Adapting route, it can be that these are all originating from alien species. Or they are prototypes created by "god".
 
Put me in the camp that thinks there is a queen(s) in that poster.

Head shape at the top isn't exact but the head design for the normal drones were different in aliens as well. There has always been a little inconsistency between the movies.
 
I'm just happy we are getting more big budget Alien films.
Even the mediocre ones I've enjoyed. I just like the universe that's been built around these disturbing fuckers.

After Alien: Resurrection (poor Jeunet :/) I thought we were done.




yes... I have intentionally omitted the AvP movies.
 
The one on the far right at the edge looks like a neomorph, or maybe just a xeno at a weird angle.

Really hoping there are this many creatures in the movie.
 
That's a, ah, pretty good looking poster. Feels to me, since it's clearly inspired by, and maybe intentionally evolved from, the original concept, like they're trying to take it back there, but I guess I won't know until I see it.

I'm remaining optimistic, but I mean...I just want a good Alien movie.

Yeah, it's different but has enough in common that it could easily be a queen.
 
Could the variations of Xenos be David's experiments that will be shown in Covenant? I don't have committed to memory what the Xenos look like outside of the original movie rendition

The Queen speculation right now reminds of people seeing its crest in the mural in Prometheus pre-release.

Different castes. Also, the Queens always looked similar when spawned by a human.
Look at the horns that we can see on this one, way to big differences for another human spawned Queen.

Are you talking about expanded universe stuff? I only remember one Queen from the main series.

I would love it if Scott conveniently continued to keep his mythology compartmentalized away from Cameron and the others. I would assume people who have a strong aversion to modern Scott/Prometheus would want the same.

In Prometheus a big point was made about Shaw's inability to have children. David is quite the sadistic, yet poetic bastard and I promise you he gave her the ability to reproduce during his Dr Frankenstein phase. The question is what she will be giving birth to and just how alive(or human) she'll be when we find her.

Scott himself said he kept being drawn back to a piece of art from Prometheus of Shaw's head almost morphing into an alien-looking creature. I guarantee that Shaw was a big help in getting the xenomorph species up and running again. Whether you want to call that a queen or not is up to you.
 
That poster would be fucking incredible if not for that terrible photoshopped screaming human head in the upper right middle. Looks so out of place, and it's like my eye is gravitated towards it lol.

Wasn't there a queen in Resurrection?

Either way, again, the designs change from movie to movie. Sometimes it's justified, sometimes it's not. Cameron added the ridge head carapace for the more mature/soldier xenos, and the series just went all digitigrade from Alien 3 onward. Pretty sure even the Deacon is digitigrade.

Didn't one version/concept of Prometheus have a giant uber-alien? Can't remember if it was supposed to be a queen or a soldier "birthed" from an engineer, but it was gigantic. Wonder if we'll see that.

Pretty sure we will. I think the backburster is going to be that, actually. Considering how big it is when it pops out of a person, I'd imagine it grows up to be nice and tall.

(Aren't they calling that the Neomorph?)

I've completely missed this! Do you have a source on Scott's words and the art (if that's public)?

In the scenario you bring up, while being conflicted about it being Shaw, I might be fine with that. That's a very loose definition of a "Queen" being in a Scott film, so it circumvents my hangups.

I was absolutely psyched for Prometheus. I fucking HATED it. Ridley Scott better not fuck this up too or he officially can't make Alien movies anymore. The original script was perfectly fine. Bringing in Lindelof was a massive mistake.
