All Messageboards Should Be In Podcast Form

Each thread is given a set amount of time to record based on the topic's popularity, newsworthiness, and posters. The show is hosted by an objective moderator (Amy Goodman is a good example) and users can pop in and out at any time.

Threads would be so much better this way. Stupid arguments would be ripped apart quickly and not harped on often like they currently are here at GAF. People's tone, condescension, and sarcasm would be easier to grasp. Holier-than-thou posters would be ignored or again ripped apart quicker than they are now.

Basically, GAF would have to abide by normal rules of conversation and debate. Arguments would have to go through the great filter that is conversation, and we'd probably get a more honest discussion.

Thoughts?

Whatever topic you're trying to discuss would just derail into a series of in-jokes.

In other words nothing would be different.

I used to do a podcast. Trying to keep people hyper focused is impossible. At some point we'd veer off into an inside joke and 5 minutes later have not talked about the subject most the time. Trying to keep times down was impossible too.

Or it'd be like Fox news and the shit arguments wouldn't die at all.

What's with this silly belief that good conversation and argumentation is the end all be all of life. That has to be some form of tyranny.

No, I read faster than people talk. Which is why video reviews, video how-to's and the like are also all terrible.

1) It's hard to go between audio points
2) It's much faster to read
3) I don't want to listen to any of you talk
4) Seeing stupid shit is what makes GAF fun.

Do you hate fun OP?

I don't like podcasts,
I don't like watching things or listening to things on the internet, I'd rather read.

Yes, please let me spend 10 times as long consuming the same degree of inane babble. The thing I hate about reading is how fast and silent it is.

Yeah, not a fan of the idea. It would be a logistical nightmare on many levels. However as a podcast listener I do wish there was a GAFcast, where the hosts talked about maybe the best or top 4-5 threads for each side of GAF, and maybe they interview some of the more respected members of the forum now and then.

THIS THREAD BROUGHT TO YOU BY SQUARESPACE

This would be a great time to talk about Audible. I've been recently reading Everything In Moderation, a brilliant book written by a recovering forum moderator that I would highly recommend to our listening audience. Audio books are great, have I mentioned that? Use the special link audible.com/IMadeAGaffe for your free download.

Banning users would be much more difficult for the mods, i imagine

agreed on the sarcasm part though

To be fair, it would be easier to find out who hadn't read (or in this case, listened) to a thread, or even the OP, before responding.

"Hmm... This person made a response despite only listening to this thread for 3 seconds..."

I don't think Amy Goodman would even be down with this. I don't think she would even be down with GAF the way it is. Likely we would have to be more open.

Hilarious!
NeoGaf already has rules certain members need not abide by.
Look how many pages have already been ripped apart literally deleted and members banned for asking about a topic that was removed.

Amirox gets demodded for editing past posts, rips off $10,000 from the community, does a SINGLE day in rehab and it's all smooth no questions asked, well definitely no real solid answers besides a photo.

Other guy gets banned for calling someone out for sexual harassment.

Censorship is already real.

Podcasts are dead unless you're already a celebrity.

What you want is either a twitch channel, or YouTube.

And even then, that's basically just a panel talk-show. Most of those suck, because the panelists are dumb.

Like, I'd rather read a film thread here than listen to the "analysis" on something like AMC Movie Talk.
