Am I the only one who thinks the Rocky movies have really incredible music?

Seriously. While the later Rocky movies might have been boarderline decent, the soundtracks for all of the movies are pretty damn amazing to say the least. It's hard to describe.. let me put it this way; if you get an out of shape man and tell him to jog 8 miles, he'll fall over half of the way. But if you take the same out of shape man and let him try to jog 8 miles while listening to the music of any given Rocky movie, he'll breeze through the 8 miles and ask for more.

Anyone else feel this way? :lol

I used to imagine the Rocky theme playing through my head during quizzes and tests back in grade school. I think they were timed tests so I was trying to get through em fast and accurate

Touche ... I have the Rocky soundtrack and I listen to it everytime I run. It's a compilation of all of them, with 'Living in America', 'Hearts on Fire' and 'Theres no easy way out' .... I run twice as long .. maybe three times as much .. around 7-8 miles ... than I would without them. So make that TWO people. I would love the soundtracks for the seperate movies, but that would be 5 CD's ... the 'Rocky Story' CD is pretty good though.

We're you watching the Rocky TNT marathon? :p

Yeah, but that has nothing to do with it. I've seen every Rocky movie at least 10 times or more, not because I'm a big fan of the movies but because my brother is a big fan of them and watches them every chance he gets. =)

I'm pretty certain if my parents played the music from Rocky movies in my room at night while I slept in my crib all the way up until I started grade school, I would of turned out to have been something really important in life-- like the president or one of those people who rings the closing bell at the stock exchange.

Bullshit-- I love the music from the Rocky flicks. Now scurry along before I get all homeless up in 'dis mofo! :D

My favorite tracks, not in any order:

"Eye of the Tiger", Survivor

"In The Burning Heart", Survivor

"No Easy Way Out", Robert Tepper

"War" (instrumental; this is the one that plays when Rocky is fighting Drago)

"Hearts on Fire" (this plays when Rocky is training for the fight in Russia)

The Rocky Theme (instrumental; not sure of the name of this one-- it's from the first movie, or maybe the second one, when he's running up the huge-ass stairs in the city while he's training :D)

James Browns' "Living in America" sucks ass.

Its awesome in the movie (the whole Apollo entrance) .. but that song by itself sucks.

I've seen that Rocky comp CD...thought about getting it a few times, cause the music in the series is just terrific. Rocky 4 in particular has one of the greatest cheese scores ever composed for a movie.

Rocky I is the best sports movie ever made. Loki and DM will make some lame and slightly insane arguments that it is Space Jam, but for everyone who doesn't have a man crush on Jordan they will all say Rocky or Hoosiers as the best. And Rocky is like 100x better then Hoosiers.

Back on topic, the music in Rocky I-IV was all amazing. I think the guy who did the music for Rocky IV also did the music for Transformers the Movie, which also explains why that music kicks so much ass as well.

As good as the Rocky flicks are, nothing in the sports movie genre beats Grand Prix, one of the best shot movies of any type from any era. Why it still hasn't been released on DVD is beyond me, though I do have it on VHS in widescreen.

Never saw Grand Prix, but if it involves cars as the titles suggest I have to disagree with you.

If you like the Rocky soundtracks (especially IV), you should be sure to purchase the Transformers The Movie soundtrack. Listen to the tracks by Vince DiCola...sounds identical to Rocky IV soundtrack.

On a side note, the "You Got the Touch" song in Boogie Nights was ripped from Transformers the Movie. I don't think Vince got a single penny for it, either. What a rip.

Hey, it wouldn't be the first time you've been wrong. :lol Grand Prix was directed by the late John Frankenheimer, and the same camera techniques he used to shoot Ronin's chase sequences (regarded by many as the best ever filmed), were pretty much the same techniques used to film these races. And they were incredibly authentic...many of the scenes shown use a mixture of actors and real F1 drivers (the star James Garner drove his car, and he could legitimately hang with the best of 'em). It's a really stunning movie as far as the racing shots go. Stuff like Days of Thunder doesn't hold a candle to it.

I'll just say that after having to play the Rocky Theme on my trumpet as part of my High School Band for over 2 hours(not counting all the time rehearshing beforehand), 2 years in a row for the new york city marathon....i now permanetly HATE IT! HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT!

But the cheesy 80s butt-rock stuff...yeah, that's cool :)

I remember when Lose Yourself got me more into school for 1 month...then it got played out.
Yea I agree with you though, Rocky songs get you pumped up anytime, anyplace, anywhere.
It's the eye of the tiger dun dun dudududun ....*Running*

The black man everyone at Activision can agree on
The Rocky movies have great inspiration music... now the debate is... where those sounds made incredibly inspiration by being IN the various Rocky movies or before? Which songs were new, existing, if any?
