Amazing Halo 2 video

Sweet. Next time you guys see me online I'll just be running around looking at the sky firing my sniper off. :lol.

Anybody could have made this video. You want to really impress people, start a game and film it in its entirety without editing it. Most of the games on this vid are custom games and its a headshot here, a no-scope there, etc. I'm not impressed unless he starts up a game and does all that stuff the entire time and we get to watch. Those clips could have been compiled from a month's time and then jammed all into one to make you think he can just do it any day of the week.

The only really impressive video I've seen so far is that guy who worked Cairo Station on Legendary in like 10 minutes.

I had no idea Halo 2 ripped off UT with the announcer voice and sh!t.

I really like the medals your awarded during miultiplayer. I dont have time to read, medals are a nice way of indicating the amount of people i've killed. Or sniped

Ahh shut up :P

Coagulation and Burial Mounds suck.

You got lucky on Ivory Tower

You mean where we capped both times and did almost nothing on the last round? hahaha aw Prine, you so crazy!

It was Lockout, not Ivory Tower.

:D

Actually, i never knew you could throw the flag up. Thanks for the tip

Was a bad day in general, Team Skirmish we were doing great, sucked at slayer. We'll beat you next time ;P

I can't believe people are actually doubting this guys talent. The sniper rifle work is incredible, all headshots, double kills, triple kills, unreal stuff. Of course the plasma grenade stuff could be duplicated with an infinite amount of time, but this guy has 10 times better accuracy than your average player. I would like to know just how accurate he is with the sniper, though.

Yeah if you GAF-ers had ever played with us before as Trasher and I have offered, we'd have showed you strats to combat those OA fuckas. Too late now, the battle lines are drawn. And listening to you guys "WTF" when we capped in lockout in about 30 seconds was priceless.

We should scrim again soon. :D

speaking of halo 2.....

anyone hear about that new glitch/cheat on coag? the whole having ur body at the base while a invisible specator version of you goes to the other base to get the flag?

yea...please bungie...patch this game soon.

<edit>

oh and about the video..

this guy is a master of the sticky grenade....holy shit...

i mean...WOW....its almost as if his sticky grenades lock onto people...
there is the possibility he is using a Smartjoy.....his movements might be smooth but that might be because he has his sensativity low.......(i know alot of CS players do that) and the way he was playing reminded me of some CS vids. (the sniping he was doing reminded me of awp whores)

but smartjoy or not...the guy obviously has skill if only because of the sticky grenading he was doing...the way he was sticking people with it takes skill with or without a smartjoy...

peace

Yeah it takes almost no time to cap using the glitch. It's pretty complicated to set up, and Bungie new about it in advance of the game shipping but allowed it to go through because it's a lot of work. I think this was in one of the recent week's Bungie Q&A things from their Web site. Patch is forthcoming, according to them.

worst cheat I have had my team skirmish ranking further rooted by is on burial mounds, though I believe it works with any warthog, I don't know what they do, but the end result is a warthog drives up to the flag with 1 person in it. Then

"FLAG TAKEN"
1 second later "FLAG CAPTURED"

dicks.

I would like to see a video of the Dummy cheat in action, if anyone knows if such a thing has been posted somewhere. Apparently it has to do with teleports and the warthog or something?

Bungie claims that "it requires exactly as much setup and cooperation as an actual flag capture and is therefore not really being seen in Live games," but I was playing with some LVL15+ Opa-Agers last night and they said that at their level, nearly everyone is doing it.

I think that is a different cheat again. the warthog one seems to be very easy, being that they capped the flag 2 times on us by doing it in about the time it takes to get the warthog to the base.

It does seem that past about level 13 the cheaters start showing up more. I can't understand why you would cheat though, because if you run into a real level 17 when you are just a cheat, you are going to get owned.

Apparently the warthog thing involves something to do with a passenger getting in and out of a warthog really fast at the start. Anyone know exactly how to do it?

Probably stems from getting killed by the Energy Sword too many times or something. There's room for improvement, but HALO 2's weapon balance is much better than the first game's.

What pisses me off is that CAL is forcing everybody to start off with the Battle Rifle and SMG, supposedly to "make it more like HALO", says my team captain. Fuck that.

in all honesty, i rather start off with battle rifle/magnum.

thats just me tho.

The dummy glitch and "the warthog thing" are one and the same. The invisible "ghost" character must be transported in the Warthog since they cannot move without being teleported back to their body. Once they get the flag, they teleport back into it and the flag goes with them.

I found a detailed description on GameFAQs, and it seriously doesn't sound like it requires much team coordination.....just 1-2 people willing to cheat.

Someones enters the passanger seat of the worthog, and attempts to exit (MUST BE AN ELITE), but before their feet hit the ground, they start tapping the melee button. On their screen they should see themselves still in the worthog (Dummy) and everyone else should see him standing next to the worthog (Real). Someone then drives the DUMMY somewhere near the enemy flag. They grab the flag, the DUMMY gets out of the hog, but can't move or else he'll go back to REAL. The person with the flag tosses it to DUMMY, DUMMY moves and becomes REAL, REAL scores flag. Often times people will use the standby glitch to ensure safty of the flag stealer.

The dummy must be constantly pushing the melee button to stay in the worthog, until they exit, and then they are stranded there.

The only solution is to kill all Warthogs....or rush their base and kill the real body of the "Dummy".

Figures.

Part of what made Halo in the eyes of the "Pros" a test of skill, was that from the beginning of the game (on several maps) you started with the game's best weapon -- the pistol. Sure, the rocket launcher, sniper rifle and power-ups had their uses (and all respawned on a timer -- check HBO for the times, there's a page there that has all of them). So Halo became a game of keep away, and ultimately you had the best weapon from the get go (levels like derelict/wizard started you with plasma junk, but the pistol was pretty available though in Wizard it was only on one of the elevated panels, so if you controlled that panel, and the powerup behind it -- game over).

Derelict, whoring sniper and rockets -- both up top, meant you controlled the map, along with all of the power-ups, a totally unbalanced map.

Now, CAL, MLG, et cetera are running the ruleset for their Halo 2 games with the emulation of Halo in mind. The Battle Rifle, by their estimation is the new pistol. It's a four shot kill. Add a plasma pistol and its essentially a one-shot kill. So the MLG guys are running the battle rifle as starting equipment.

Part of what makes Halo 2 good, are the limited resources a team/player has on any given map. Having the battle rifle and the sniper rifle on the top of Coag bases forces teams to decide if one guy should be carrying both of those weapons, et cetera. It makes the battle rifle somewhat important. Giving everyone a battle rifle, makes Halo 2 a mid-range game, and diminishes the importance (not substantially, but somewhat) of the Rocket Launcher and Sniper Rifle.

Sure, I'd love to start off with the battle rifle, but it makes the acquisition of weapons and map control a little bit less important with Halo 2. The *best* weapons (the sword is outlawed in MLG, not sure about CAL) respawn on a timer AFTER they've been exhausted, i.e., the Beam Rifle on Colossus, Rockets on Coag, Snipers on Coag, et cetera. I'm obviously not going to point out what weapons respawn on timers and how to get multipler sniper rifles on a map, here, you guys can figure that out for yourselves. :D

So starting with the battle rifle adds a different element of strategy, but also diminshes other aspects of the game.

I don't even want to talk about all of the glitching and cheating we've started to see.
Patches.

that dummy thing is weird and stupid.

when it happened to me twice the driver didn't even seem to get out of the warthog though, if the dummy guy gets out right on the flag, can he grab it?

only reason i want a battle rifle is spawning with smg and someone runs up to u with a smg/plasma combo and ur basically "fuxxored" unless the guy just cannot aim for the world.

that happens to me alot and every time i just wish i spawned with a battlerifle.

peace

Right, and that's why I don't want it as a starting weapon. It's the most versatile weapon in the game, and with it as a starting weapon, it eliminates the need to use any other weapons besides the Rocket Launcher, and some Magnums, really.

They should've left the weapon settings on default.

Swipe sniping? Please, tell me more... It looked like that's what he was doing in the video but is there an actual technique to it or do you just get lucky?

Like in the first Halo, Halo 2 uses auto aim once the reticule gets within a certain range. You can no scope snipe simply by keeping the reticule at head length and sliding the reticule toward the head, "swiping" if you will. Allowing the auto aim to do some of the work for you and pulling the trigger at the right time is a pretty easy headshot. The guy in the video is getting alot of help from the auto aim, and while he is tremendously skilled it's him getting alot of help from, as Sai pointed out, Halo 2's netcode.

We got a scrim with ChosenOnes goin' at 10:00 under CAL rules. I'll try to arrange something before then(if we have the players), but if you want to scrim with us it would be best to play after the one we already arranged.

If not, it's cool. I'll play with you guys before the scrim.

I don't care what anyone says, the majority of that stuff is amazing.

About 2 minutes through he bounces a plasma grenade off a wall onto someone running up it from the opposite side of the map. It looks to be a fluke, but judging from the rest of the video he'd guessed where the person would be.

Well his plasma grenade abilites are good, but I'm not really convinced that he didn't have some help on those, some just look too lucky.

Shooting someone without the scope on your sniper is pure fuckin luck,I've done it countless times and then just lmao because of how lucky I got.I get Triple kills all the time with the sniper and I've had one killtacular with it,so meh on his sniping skills.

Ramirez, I saw you play.
Meh on your sniper skills. :D
It's alot of the auto aim in the video.

Sai, we can probably play tonight around 10, at least 3 of us will be on and available to play some CAL games. Send me an IM later.

Out of the 3 games we played,I finished 1st in 2 of them,so yea.Not to mention I'm sure you 3 play all the time together, its only natural you all would have an advantage over us as far as teamwork goes.

Dude, those first two games were ties. Everyone finished first.

Oops,I coulda swore that meant individually what you placed as far as kills and stuff...hmm,oh well, can't base my entire play style over 3 games.

What? Gaming Leagues have outlawed the sword? Jesus, it's not that unstoppable....what is their rationale?

Yeah, like I alluded to in my book above. It totally throws the competitive balance of the maps out of whack. The sword, in the right hands, is overpowered. But, with a couple of battle rifles (as everyone starts with one) two guys can mow through a sword in two squeezes of the R-trigger...

Pussies.

With the sword you need to get close. Either get plenty of firepower or a good aim and any sword-weilding opponent can be owned. You have to spot them in time though. :)

Nothin like popping around the corner and seeing a dude with the sword coming straight at you. Happens to me much more than i'd like :/
