Amazon.ca/com/co.uk -- difference b/w buying FROM Amazon and THROUGH Amazon?

$54.39 from Amazon
$38.97 from overman2000_ca

I save a fair amount if I purchase it from a reliable user, instead of Amazon. But is it worth it? Am I guaranteed to have a secure transaction? Will the product be shipped as quickly? etc

Consider that I might only save $2 if I was to go through overman2000_ca. Would it still be worth it?

Also, just in general, has anyone had any troubles with Amazon? I'm going to use my parent's credit card, and they're a little ancy about using it online.

Generally, no, there isn't a problem with using an Amazon third party seller. Just use common eBay-like sense. If it seems too good to be true (anime DVD prices) they're probably bootleg, check the feedback, etc.

Amazon allows three lifetime claims against sellers who commit fraud.

However if you're at all antsy, you may as well just pay the extra money and use Amazon themselves. In America at least, if anything with the order goes wrong in terms of damage (specifically DVDs, which is what you're buying) they send out a replacement with two-day shipping free, and give you a pre-paid return mailer. There's no better customer service than Amazon. (America, not sure about other regions)

Oh, I was about to hit submit reply, but I notice Amazon.ca doesn't even have that in stock. Your only option there WOULD be a third party seller.

I've bought two books from Amazon partners (one in Germany and one in the US) and there were no problems what so ever. As for the payment, money goes through Amazon. It's withdrawn from your account immediately unlike normal Amazon orders. If there are any problems with the delivery you contact the seller (ie. not Amazon) directly.

I've bought from third parties through Amazon a few times, last time being two weeks ago when I ordered a 200GB Seagate HDD which I only recieved today, because the seller used "Media Mail" shipping, the slowest ever! So I'd the say the only disadvantages for buying from a 3rd party is slower shipping and not-as-good-as-Amazon's packaging.

A roomate of mine tried to buy a book twice through amazon.com third parties, he hasn't received either yet. He ordered them months ago.
