Amazon DD Sales Thread

The Argus rifle I believe it is

Alright, thanks for the heads up. CS will likely contact someone on my team to see what's up. We (the marketing team) don't actually control the system that sends out the extra codes as it is hard coded. Thanks for the heads up and sorry for the delay. Stupid question, did you check your spam/junk folder?

Cheers,
Tony

I didn't see it in there, and usually it gets emptied out regularly so, it might have been deleted had it somehow ended up there :/

So this DRM-free sale thing. Is it live yet? And is the lovely SC: Chaos Theory one of the DRM-free titles?

I see this touted all the time around here, but it needs to be said that Chaos Theory is definitely not for everyone. People that like bad games would do well to stay away.

General question to the folks here: is there any sort of timeframe for about how long it takes for a new game to go on sale on Amazon DD? I've got a friend who wants to pick up Mass Effect 3 but is waiting for a good price drop. Obviously it won't be anytime soon, but I'm just curious.

Anyone kno if the Call of Juarez games are worth it? Only games I'm interested in from the sale. Also Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes is insanely fun I would've posted earlier but I was completely hooked on that game.

Bound In Blood is fun for what it is. From what I've seen from The Cartel, Bound In Blood seems 10 times tighter with a good budget and a cool western storyline.

At $2.50, if you like westerns and shooters, I can't recommend against it.

We actually don't carry that title.

Cheers,
Tony

Thanks for the reply. Too bad you don't carry the second one. I would like to have all of them in digital drm-free form.

Double dipped on Splinter Cell 1,3,4 though (they were worth the price for the drm-free :D)
Now waiting my code to redeem my second free game.

P.S.
I bought in sequence
SC1
then on SC3 got for free,
then I bought SC4 for 4.98 (1 cent cheaper :s)

Did the system glitched? I haven't received my 2nd coupon yet. Am I screwd?

I seem to have the same issue. Bought 1st game, got second for free, bought a third and now I see it had -$0.01 and now I don't have a second discount code for a second free game.

So it may be wide issue. I hope Tony can let the team know and fix it soon :)

Hey guys,

This is an issue where it thinks you got the promo twice because of the extra penny. I just changed the price of all the games to be $5 to avoid the issue for future purchasers, in the mean time, if you experienced the issue, give me like 30 minutes to let our CS team know about the issue, then contact CS via chat or email and let them know what happened and they'll get you sorted out.

Really sorry about the inconvenience here :(.

Cheers,
Tony

That free EA title from my Mass Effect 3 purchase seems to be have been redeemed along with the code when I downloaded Dragon Age Origins and I lost my $5 credit from Mass Effect 3. I was going to purchase Far Cry 2 with it. Is there a fix for this? I contacted Amazon, hope to hear something soon.

Does chaos theory have a good story? I never played a Splinter cell

I recommend you buy 1 and Chaos Theory. If you have to choose one, go for CT
please note that Double Agent (haven't finished it yet though) and Conviction removes the classic formula of stealth game with NSA gadgets for more traditional gaming. Which is worse in my opinion.

Thanks, your (and Amazon's) support is highly appreciated :D

Issue was identified and fixed yesterday, if you contact CS they will reissue you a $5 credit. Sorry guys, this has been a rough week for $5 credits!

I wish there was a fourth game so I could get call of juarez. :/

Edit: Wait, they're completely DRM free? So none of the online bullshit the first assassins creed had? I might rebuy a bunch of these if that's the case.

I believe you mean the Second one.
As far as I am aware they are totally drm free. the only drm is the serial key for the multiplayer mode which they include.

Ah, maybe it was. I forget if it was the first or second they started the always on nonsense with. Do any of the games on sale have the always on DRM? I don't think the rest of Ubi was ever that bad right? Debaitng whether to rebut some or not.

They are all DRM free, the only thing you need a code for is to access the multiplayer.

Cheers,
Tony

I meant what DRM was removed to make them now DRM free. Wondering if I should rebuy any.

I am too lazy to google the drm for all of the games, but I'll go with:
Securom
Starforce
maybe TAGES

At least it will make some games RE-playable in x64 windows. I think old TAGES and Starforce DRM don't "play" well with recent OSes, especially x64.

If I remember correctly I had to find a crack to play my legit Disc copies for some games. So DRM-free double dipping is always welcomed in my books :D

Which of these games are worth getting? Looking at HAWX. Is it controller compatible?

I remember playing it at a Gamestop, twas fun.

Ya, I just don't remember a lot having problems that I bought on steam. The only constant online ones I can think of are newer games that aren't part of this sale. I don't see any mention of anything too bad on the steam pages and just trying to figure out if any had really horrible DRM so that I should rebuy them from amazon. I'm not bashing DRM free at all, I'm excited amazon did this and I hope they do it more in the future. If it wasn't that this wasn't available way back when I bought them on steam I would have bought from amazon.

The two settlers and the newer call of juarez I don't own so I'll definitely will buy those. I just don't know if the DRM was bad enough on the others to repurchase.

I remember the second one had built in pad support, I'm not sure about the first one though. :/

Peripherals Supported: Windows-compliant keyboard, mouse, optional controller (Xbox 360® Controller for Windows recommended) (why wouldn't it was a console port)

Yes, I am looking getting it myself when my 5$ coupon arrives (didn't receive it automatically, contacted Customer Support)

I think all of them have ended up without third party DRM on Steam, so if Steam DRM is acceptable to you then there's not much advantage. I was sure Far Cry 2 used to have an installation limit and third-party DRM, but if it did it doesn't seem to any more.

Alright, that's pretty much what I thought. And ya, Steam DRM is good enough if I have to rebuy. If I didn't already have them then I'd buy steam instead.

Ace Combat 4, 5 and Zero are sooo close to being playable on PCSX2 it makes me hurt. The discs are sitting on my shelf, laughing at me (my PS2 died.)

But yes, HAWX is a decent alternative if you need an arcade/sim fix. Doesn't have the charm of AC but it's quite playable.

Agreed.

Also, I just bought both the Call of Juarez games for $5! Good shit Amazon. :)

I'm wondering why the download size of Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc's from Amazon is 600MB but from GOG.com is 1.2GB? Both are DRM-FREE.

BTW: Is this Windows 7 compatible? I bought it already so I don't know if it will run well!

Probably a better package compression?

All games according to Tony play even on x64, except for Far Cry 1

So I've got one of those free EA games promo codes they gave out with mass effect 3 digital orders, first person to PM me gets it.
Edit: Its gone!
