Amazon DD Sales Thread

Is this the cheapest we have seen Saint's Row The Third on either Amazon or Steam? I can't remember.

Space Marine looks pretty cool. Did anyone get that?
 
Hey Tony, nothing personal at all.. just calling a spade a spade! I'm sure there are a few folks who don't post at a place like GAF who will appreciate some of those other games.

It has been $25 now in 2 or 3 different sales since Christmas. I think it was maybe $21 or $22 on thq.co.uk or something for a day, but strictly on Amazon or Steam? Yeah this is basically the cheapest it's been.

Space Marine is alright. If you like Gears you can't go wrong with it, really. But I spent $12.50 on it and was left wanting a little more.

Yeah no worries, nothing taken personally. I want you guys to understand how and why we do what we're doing so you feel like you're part of the process. This includes people who want titles like the non-AAA stuff we've got on sale. I don't ever want to respond to people asking for games on sale with "no way man, those games aren't good enough to put into a promotion".

Calling a spade a spade though, we've got to include them in promotions like this (where we have a bunch of other stronger titles surrounding them), otherwise we risk wasting the promotional opportunity.

Make sense? Like I said originally though, nothing taken personally at all, you all should feel like you can raise questions/concerns/make comments about what we're promoting and why...if I didn't want that I wouldn't post here.

I know THQ.com has had it on sale for cheaper in the past, I'm not sure what the price point was though, apologies for the lack of insight there.

FYI we don't do things like "add fillers so we can say ZOMG 150+ sales" its actually a lot easier for us to craft a shorter marketing message around a smaller list of tittles. The expanded format of this sale comes as a direct result of over 500 emails/PMs/requests I've personally received on individuals on forums like this, CAG and Reddit asking that we provide some promotional activity around our smaller publishers...like the ones you're referencing. We're really trying to build a community and listen to our customers when they provide us with ideas.

Sorry that not all of the deals are for you, I did, however, make a concerted effort to call out the deals that appeal to the broadest audience by placing them prominently on the deal landing page, calling them out in all of the outbound communication (like what you see in the OP), and continually making them the showcase for the event.

Happy to answer any questions I can regarding how and why we structure the promotions the way we do. Feel free to reach out with further questions.

It was just a little jarring going from page 1 to page 2/3.

However, I am not complaining about the sale overall. We do appreciate the work you do and the sales/price matching you guys do. Keep fighting the good fight for us.

I posted this in the other thread but thought it would be better to ask here. Hoping you can make my dreams come true. Is there any chance Kingdoms of Amalur might be added to the sale? I saw it in the banner and got all excited and then I realized it's not actually in the sale which was a bummer.

Edit: Also, everyone knows that Corndog King is where it's at.

I'd assume so. It says on the page:

"Initial installation requires one-time internet connection for Steam authentication; software installations required (included with the game) include Steam Client, Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable"

It does and it is in the OP as well. It says "activates on Steam" next to the link in the OP.

I'm actually looking forward to The Saboteur the most...is that crazy?
 
Probably gonna get The Darkness II and The Saboteur yay for having a job now! lol. Also once again thanks Tony for bringing the awesome deals.

Also since there's another thread about this sale should I just make new threads for new sales along with updating this thread or just update this thread and let someone else make the thread?

I have a Radeon 6950 and bought it earlier today. Used Origin to download and install it, moved the folder it installed to to my c:/program files (x86)/ElectronicArts folder with the rest of my EA games, ran the VideoSetup.exe that came in the folder with the game and maxed everything, started it at 1920x1076--a custom resolution I use for most DX9 games--and it runs just fine. I can even force AA with RadeonPro, but I get less than 60fps if I do. Injected FXAA keeps it at 60, but it didn't seem to be doing much.
 
If I never played or read or know anything about warhammer 40k story. Should I buy Dawn of War II or Space Marine if I want to get more interested in the Warhammer 40k's world and story?

Or I should just read a book?

I got this too, and for LA Noire, before I realized my credit card expired end of March. I updated my info, but now I'm stuck in this holding pattern. Asks if I want to place another order, but I'm afraid I'll end up with 2 copies.
 
Anyone even a little interested in turn based strategy games should check out Legio, it's only $2. It's one of those strategy games that plays on a board game like field. I thought it was good, and for that price...........

So you already have it on Steam? That won't change if you delete it. I still have Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast in my library and available to download even though it was pulled off of Steam quite a long time ago.
 
Saints Row uses Steamworks as DRM, right? So if I buy it through this, it will give me a key to redeem through Steam, and any DLC I get will be through there?
 
Well, I'm heartbroken. I had to request a refund on LA Noire because I had to DL it twice only to get 2 archives with CRC errors. I really wanted to play it too :/

Really? That's nuts, we've sold through a ton of the product today and I haven't gotten any little red exclamation point emails today telling me to pull the title because it isn't working.

Dawn of War II assumes you know what's up, but Space Marine eases you into the fiction pretty well... I'd say even better than reading one of the books because the novels tend to be overwhelming in odd details.

There was some funkiness with my credit card also. I've resolved that, but like you I'm getting duplicate order warning even though I can't find the actual order.

I went ahead and ordered the 'duplicate.' Transaction went through fine, and it says I only bought one copy so looks like I'm all good.
 
anyone else having crusader kings 2 crash on loading graphics?

it looks like it is expecting dlc content, though i'm just playing the base game.

I think we cleared everything up on that question/commentary. I explained that there is a large group of people, like yourself, who find value in the non-AAA stuff we've got in the sale. We definitely want to help people enjoy that content as well!

We are constantly testing a ton of price structures and discount levels to see what works best. As we get more data you'll see changes to our promotional structure.

This kind of discount on an 8 week old title is pretty unheard of, we had to do a lot of pitching to make it happen. We'll do a big post-sale analysis and incorporate that into our future plans.

TLDR - if our customers vote with their wallet and show us that this kind of discount level this close to release is worth it we'll aggressively pursue them in the future :).

Did you get this fixed? I don't know how much we'd be able to do since this sounds like an issue with Steam and outside of our control. Happy to help if we can though.

Bummer man, did you try contacting our CS group? Did you DL from us or from Steam? Are the forum posts you're reading indicating it is a problem when people DL from us specifically?

Yeah, don't get me wrong. I wouldn't expect Syndicate to be 75% off already--I'm REALLY surprised The Darkness II is--but 33% off a $60 game that absolutely no one bought (it moved like 30k combined in its first NPD) doesn't really get my attention as it's an already overpriced game at $60 since there's no console tax on PC. I guess I'm more surprised it's at the same price point as Amalur, which was successful by comparison.

it's got some bugs on my nvidia card too, most notably the map scaling doesn't match up with the icons when using 1080p and other high resolutions. Great game and well worth it though!
