Thats where most of their sales come from. Imagine Steam blocking Japanese games and you say "Don't release on steam. Problem solved."

There are other sites, you can sell on your own etc. We live in internet era. The idea that you need Walmart to sell your books doesn't make sense.

Star Citizen is crowdfunded game which got 300mln dollars in fan funding. All without any amazon steam and so on.

This is going to hurt the LN industry in the west big style.

no it won't. LN didn't get this big with Amazon help.

Not everything is Star Citizen. As D Donwel said this will hurt the western light novel and manga industry and the people behind it. You wont automatically get 300 million dollar of crowdfunded money(and light novel and manga buyers themselves are a niche).

anything that is this niche has no real power when someone wants to shut them down. I don't know that much about LN but I did follow mangas for a while.
Still it was only a matter of time if any of these works are remotely sexual in nature they will be pushed underground in the west. Even when sex is not the main theme that will be the excuse.

Makes content that heavily sexualizes children, wonders why it gets culled.

Is anyone really surprised that Amazon would want to distance itself from this creepy bullshit that sexualizes children? Is this really a shock to anyone other than the weebs that consume this nonsense? The people seeking out this stuff will find it, I imagine they don't need amazon to continue selling this stuff.

Books have something called a cover page. Its like the guy with the gun on your favorite games. The inside of the book has words in it. Are the words about pedophilia or are you talking out of your ass? I don't know any of those titles so I need your expert analysis.

So why are the covers designed to appeal to people interested in the sexualisation of children?

Not gonna lie, I can't help but raise an eyebrow whenever someone let's on they're an anime fan.
I've never watched or read the stuff but from the images I've seen in passing on this forum, well it makes me a little dubious about most of it.

Do yourself a favor and do even a cursory search on the series. More specifically Shiro, the 11 year old. You'll find all you need to know.

Instead of focusing on that one title, maybe also focus on the other one I mentioned
LOL they blocked many which have no fanservice at all like "I Shall Survive Using Potions! "
Since when was anything from FUNA considered fanservice ?
Also, "Grimgar of Fantasy". They are just slowly purging all anime related content.

Weebs- "The world is going to hell there's riots everywhere!!" - I sleep

Also Weebs - "Lewd manga's are being purged from Amazon!!" - REAL SHIT

:p

So some weebs should explain this to us normies and non-otakus.

Are these basically Pedo books you would find on the Lolita express?

Kaoru was a 22-year-old Japanese salary woman. On the way home from work one night she got caught up in an accident while God (Administrator Of Earth) was fixing a spatial disturbance. As an apology for killing her, God offered to send her to another world along with a cheat ability... Kaoru later realized that her body is at an eternally 15-year-old state, thus she will not grow old or her chest at all.

Are they removing things from Comixology?

That's were I read My hero academia. If they are then that's a bummer.

Oh, come on. I can understand taking out NGNL because. . .well, lots of lolis and fanservice and that weird pseudoincestuous relationship between the MCs. But Grimgar? It's just a good dark fantasy. May as well remove Berserk considering what happens to Guts, Casca, and Griffith in their childhoods.

Why are people, especially Americans so stupid when it comes to anything a corporation does? It's like if a corporation pulls a dick move, people just accept it. Whether it be twitter, Facebook, google, amazon, whatever. If the government did this, then, and only then, do people apply any semblance of critical thought to the decision.

Yes, it will hurt the LN industry, that is fucking obvious. Bringing up star citizen, as if that is in any way a sensible comparison is stunning.

"But oagboghi2, it's from Japan so it must be child porn."

1.) That's retarded
2.) Why doesn't Amazon just admit what is the problem. Tell publishers and creators why their stuff is being pulled?

If I had to guess, its because Bernkastel Bernkastel is right. I doubt many of these stories are actually child porn or whatever, or even that sexual, but because people think like this

Amazon feels embolden that they can ban anything that carries a specific art style or comes from the east and not get blowback.

The series is actually really interesting despite the stupid as fuck blurb. That should be the slogan for the light novel industry from Japan to be honest.

Most of the story revolves around the fact the main character ends up destabilizing both the economy and political power balance where she goes because of what she does with potions and the bullshit she throws out to avoid the aristocrats, monarchs, merchants and etc that want her talents. There really is nothing salacious about the series.

Grimgar is a pedo story?
Dont know what that is, but I know its an example far away from the underage anime heros comics your defending.

Amazon are not going to pay someone to read all those publications to make sure it's one of the "OK" ones.

That was the one I was defending - it's just a fantasy isekai about people dropped into a very harsh world. They look like normal JRPG characters. Just looking at the covers it is obviously completely different from the one I didn't defend - No Game No Life has sexualized little girls on its covers.

I don’t understand, Amazon, or any private business big or small, isn’t obliged or forced to sell or list whatever. It’s not “an american thing to defend corporations”, it’s just that. They can choose to sell whatever the fuck they want. Shit, if they don’t want to list any Harry Potter books, it’s on them, their loss. But it’s their choice.

i don’t even shop in Amazon by the way.

Where did I say they were obliged or should be they forced to sell these books? I'll wait

What they should do is explain to these publishers what happened, and why they are being pulled. It isn't to much to ask for a buyer to explain their policies. Many tech companies act with impunity and leave people to guess what they are doing. it's normally considered poor business to treat a third party like this. Even Wal-mart is willing to talk to distributors/suppliers about issues before they drop a product. Expecting Amazon to do the same shouldn't be controversial.

Amazon has the right to pull Harry Potter books with no explanation, Rowling publisher and distributors have the right to ask why.
