Amazon is the shit

Never had a problem with their and their customer service has been great.

That said, I am not blind to the way their employees are treated. Those jobs must be hell.

Recently bought a 30 something € item which had the wrong quantity listed in the amazon website and they told me to keep it instead of returning.
Have had a few incidents where the website said they were doing X coupon promotion in like say a graphic card, I buy but that was only applicable to the sellers not amazon and they refund the amount of the game (60€) per each card.

Anyway amazon as a customer is pretty solid if nothing else because they tend to solve the issues that do come up pretty well.

Amazon lockers are just the greatest thing

I don't have to worry about my stuff being stolen, delivered to the wrong house by their own terrible shipping service , left out in rain, etc.

I've even stopped checking on the tracking 50 times a day

so good

They just run the numbers to know it's cheaper on their end to just let you keep it than paying shipping to take it back or replace it. They did the same thing for me when the Kill A Watt I was sent arrived with cracks.

Don't they treat their warehouse workers like shit

The heard that they treat all their employees like shit! They make all their workers fly coach instead of business class. They don't offer better benefits than some other big companies. A buddy of mine that works there says they're the worst. It feels like working for a large corporation with small business budgets when it comes to employees wanting to do something cool. Totally an overrated place to work. Honestly, I feel a little guilty every time I get a good deal from them. If they weren't so convenient, I would totally stop shopping with them until they treat their worker's better. It's a tough racket I'm sure.

This has happened to me a couple times. It's sometimes just not worth it for them to restock the item, especially if they have to pay for the return shipping.

If Amazon paid for return shipping every time someone didn't "like" what they ordered, people would abuse the hell out of it.

i've bought thousands of $ worth items, years of prime membership. i've maybe returned one other item. i don't abuse the system, but didn't get this superb cs experience.

I was traveling to another state and needed a computer monitor, but didn't feel like finding a box/paying for mine on the flight, so I just had Amazon ship one to where I was going and returned it a few days later when I was done. Worked out great. Amazon owns.

What I hate about Amazon is that they are too convenient and their prices are too good to not shop from

Yeah I have many friends who work for corporate amazon and it literally is one of the worst places to work. It's an incredibly toxic environment and turnover is extremely high.

They don't treat their employees like humans and it extends down to their warehouse workers.

I heard many of their warehouses don't even have A/C because it's cheaper to just send people to the hospital in the case that they get heat exhaustion.

Worked at a fulfillment center for a bit, entry level. Seemed as budgeted and management failing upwards as most places I've experienced.

absolute wankers to work for, can't imagine what it must be like in america where working conditions are more strenuous in general.

Actually that really sucks. I didn't know how much of it was real and how much of it was a sob story as its was their tech side but it seems like there's more than smoke. It seriously sad as they bend over backwards to make customers happy but seem to screw over their workers.

blamespace is the first ever human to ask hard hitting questions about Amazon

One might even say that blame is his space.

I'll see myself out :(

He wasn't alone.
Bought a camera from them, 2 weeks later it goes on a super sale for a day. Email them, don't say GIMMIE MUNNY rrefund now. Say hey, I just bought this for $$$ and now it is a little bit lower $$. Is their anything I can do?
"No, but well credit your account anyway, enjoy."

I did have to send them back a light stand because they one in the displayed picture was an entirely different product than the one they sent. All went smoothly.

They're a piece of shit company, yes. Go work at one of their warehouses and get back to us about great they are.

Why worry about the employees that haven't drank the koolaid leaving, when they are easily replaced with a person who can pass a drug test.

I can't attest to the warehouses, but from my experience, amazon's smiles and open arms are a complete facade. With they're lax hiring polcies, and the unpaid hour system making it really easy to just stop showing up, employees are just a item to be used replaced when frayed.

Ordered a $200 exercise bike last month because it was a great deal, and it arrived with a slightly cracked piece. It wasn't a huge deal, basically just a blemish, but I figured I'd see if I could trade it for another one. Apparently it was an older model that had since been sold out. Amazon just refunded me the item and said to keep it.

They are, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel a pang of guilt everytime I order now.

This level of customer service and efficiency doesn't come with no cost.

Yup, I buy basically my entire life on Amazon and living in their back yard is fucking amazing. No company quite like them.

Yeah, their customer service is genuinely second to none when it comes to "big box" stores.

I kinda had the same situation as you. Ordered a wallet for my dads birthday a few years back, didnt arrive when it was suppose to. I complained to Amazon about it so they over nighted me another one. Both arrived the same day and when i contacted them about it they told me to just keep them.

I also randomly got a $50 gift card with my Xmas order last year.

I remember they shipped me an item the size of a cigarette box in a box that could fit a computer in it. Was worth a chuckle if anything.

Deep in my heart I know I shouldn't support Amazon this much but instead buy from local shop and support them but fuck me their support is just too good.

Remember when my new PC monitor had an issue. I wrote them on Saturday afternoon and got an answer in like 30 minutes to return it and that I would get a new monitor...

I did some exchanges with local sellers and man, this is just another level of customer service.

Sorry locals, all hail to the Amazon overlords.

Try living in Seattle. Then you can buy from Amazon while simultaneously feeling good about buying local :)

Amazon's always been great for me. Very accommodating when I have to return defective products, even stuff that brick and mortar stores would probably give me trouble about. Their shipping is consistently fast and I don't think I've ever had a bad customer service experience. They are almost bizarrely hassle-free.

I've used Amazon for years and I won't stop unless the quality of their service declines or their prices suddenly skyrocket.

I've had nothing but positive experiences with Amazon, with the rare exception of ordering a game and not getting on on release day, but the day after. I think that's happened twice in 6 or 7 years.

Amazon as a service / retailer is great.
Amazon as a company is as shitty as so many others.

I always wonder if it's simply an economic impossibility to have a company that can run a succesful business at such a large scale and treat their customer's right without treating their employees like crap and avoiding taxes left and right.

They treat a lot of their workers like crap and are trying their best to kill retail, which will have devastating effects on the country (and presumably world, eventually).

And yet Amazon is really not a new thing. For years, there were mail order companies like Sears that sold via catalog over the phone.

Yet people decided they'd rather buy stuff from stores. At least until the 1990s.

Then for whatever reason, people have decided "Screw workers", I want the cheapest possible item. Not just amazon, with manufacturing. Apple could make iPhones in the US. Yes, they'd make less profit, but they would still likely be worth billions and billions. But nope, people are fine and dandy with people overseas working in dangerous conditions (because of looser laws), getting paid peanuts (except peanuts might be worth more in some cases), and long hours.

It's funny, this place is about as left leaning as it gets, yet companies like Amazon and Apple and Google and others with very predatory practices are almost worshiped. Being socially progressive covers a lot of sins, I guess.

I dont think they have scale anywhere close to Amazon or Walmart, but CostCo has nailed both. I hate that I no longer live near one.
