The old gal lives!

Exciting to see potential CPU competition again. I hope AMD can keep it up for at least a few generations. I should be set for CPU for sometime but it would be nice to have actual options again.

Originally was waiting for an mITX build myself, but these days I'm thinking it may be more economical just to gut my current ATX system and spend the savings on better internals..decisions decisions.

i7-6700 for reference.

Something is wrong here. I've got 1815 single thread and 7027 multithread with a 4670k@4ghz. There's no way my CPU should have better single thread results than yours.

You can click reference and see what a 6700k should be doing and it's 2000 single thread.

Edit: Nvm I didn't see that it was a non k version. I didn't know that there was that much difference between the two.

Yeah, the non-k is 3.4Ghz base, the k is 4Ghz.

Sweet merciful.. if the 1600X is that powerful AMD is certainly back (can't wait to see real world performance). This is like T-Bird levels of back to prominence.

If these benchmarks are accurate...

I've not built anything with you in a long time AMD....looks like that is about to change.

Edit** Without digging through the thread, what are the expected prices of the Ryze 5s???

I'm guessing the cost to performance is going to be great.

Please be true.

Would love to go AMD for my next computer upgrade. Intel is sadly to busy with adding stuff I don't want and need to their CPUs.

These could be fake.

What isn't fake is this famous overclocker's reaction to Ryzen overclocking to add more hype fuel:

Apparently in the original tweet translated it said 'OMG insanely quick'.

EDIT: f#ck I'm using my phone.
Could it be that they broke the 10GHz barrier? Bulldozer was pushed to 8.8Ghz back in 2012.

Supposedly, the 6 core CPU in the Videocardz article might not be a 1600X:

I would like to point out something that nobody seems to notice, about the 6C/12T CPU in that benchmarks.

Now lets look at what Eng Sample numbers mean, and focus on TDP package.

The 6C/12T CPU here has TDP indicator as: BB = 65W(!).

Every other CPU Eng sample, especially with ZD is final version that we will see in retail.
The CPU benchmarked does not have XFR. It is not 1600X. It does not cost 259$.

Been with AMD since K6-2. This will very likely be my next computer upgrade. Actually been on an Athlon II X3 445 for 6-7 years now. It unlocks to a Phenom x4 but I stopped unlocking it awhile ago due to heat and not really needing that extra core for anything (even in games it does nothing for me).

Shame AMD had the Bulldozer debacle. What's sad about it is that they were right about many aspects of PC arch, first to have on die memory, preferred x86-64 instruction set, probably HMB. Intel was right about hyperthreading, though (talking tech here, not preferring to talk about the "other stuff").

Just to join the CPU-Z party:

I hope the leaks are true.

Note: I'm all in with AMD @ $4.19, I knew they'd make a comeback. They had to. I'm not trying to hype them but if you want to have more consumer choice and help get rid of Intel's hegemony, if AMD succeeded, we should reward them with AMD rigs. I've been holding off upgrading for quite some time, 2 years past my past historical upgrade cycle. It's about time.

The hype is real. :D

I think the majority of folks are basically just looking for a great processor for a great deal. If this proves true for Ryzen then AMD are going to do very well. I'm happy to go with AMD if everythings good with real world performance, games etc.

Looks like some really good early indications this will be amd's return. I sure hope so, I'd love to be able to recommend them to people after Intel's been so prevalent the past 7 years. 8c 16t sounds amazing if the performance is there.
