AMD Ryzen CPUs will launch by March 3

I think the majority of folks are basically just looking for a great processor for a great deal. If this proves true for Ryzen then AMD are going to do very well. I'm happy to go with AMD if everythings good with real world performance, games etc.

I think you're right and the fears that people just want Intel to rebrand one of their lower level CPUs to be able to buy Intel are overblown. If AMD comes to within 10-15% of Intel for half the price, people will switch or finally make their upgrades, rather than just waiting for Intel's response.

If the leaks are true (and the more I read, the more likely I think it is the case), AMD should be OK. And we're all better for it.

I've had my 4930k (6 core) for 2 years. Not interested in anything outside of the 8 cores Ryzens, but if these early leaks are true, bodes well for the higher end models...At least I hope so.

not bad for a $60 chip, at least the st perf

better than ryzen

My Stock i5-6600 (Non-K, 3.3Ghz) for reference:

Its still a good time to buy AMD stock? Or the ship has sailed?

Looking at their 2Y chart... you'll be buying in at their max price, so its risky, but if you truly believe Ryzen is the start of something big for them then by all means jump in. I remember when I didn't buy NVDA at $17/share in college. Really sad about it now obviously lol

I've been pretty happy with my 4790k I got from my buddy at intel 2 years ago. Though I wouldn't mind going full 8 core with Ryzen and doing a real LCS setup on it...

Sorry for potato quality, did it remotely.

Lol. That single thread performance is almost twice as fast as mine D:

FX6300, running stock 3.5Ghz, turbo off

I could probably hit double lol, but those last couple of 100MHz take a lot more voltage.

It's at 4.3 right now.

Hype rising.

This is a bit offtopic here and can derail the thread -) but from what is happening for the last couple of years it's pretty clear that they don't intend to - their way of "fixing" this is to promote the usage of DX12 and VK APIs where the actual fixing is down to developers.

Those scores are kinda high. Here's mine on a 5930k @4.5Ghz.

If that is really a 3.3GHz/3.7 GHz, the performance (on this test) would blow out Intel's.

As someone who still owns a reasonable amount that I invested at $2, I'd be very cautious about that. Like, I'm not gonna say it's a completely bad idea to put a bit of money down on it(I have yet to sell off the whole bundle I bought at $2), but it's an insane amount higher than it used to be.

I kind of stumbled onto this thread.. Zero knowledge of the new chip.. What's the estimated price for these? Are they targeting budget consumers or high-end?

It's still not even close to the levels we saw in 2000 and I don't think it ever will be again but even 2006 was several times higher. With a great CPU line you guys don't think it's possible it could even make it back say halfway to 2006 values at 20 per?

The question is will the ones below the mid end be worth buying over Intel. Probably not. Mid/high though could be likely.

Wow it's actually happening. The CPU landscape is finally interesting again

6900k performance for 389

E: ^ that looks like a Frys price sign?

This is about to change the budget game as well too.

The Ryzen 3 looking like it'll knock with I5s is ridiculous

Intel bout to get that fire under their ass

And I have issues where I can only use two memory sticks, 4 will not post, tried multiple sets etc. Switched out the CPU and Mobo with RMA etc. Might be switching time again for me.

I think it's possible, thus why I haven't sold it. That being said, buying stock at this level feels like betting. Where I'm at now, even if there's a crash on the stock I'll still make more than a 200% profit.

Yea, I was in the thread asking about stock buying tips for AMD back when it was $2 a stock. But I'm a student with no money. It made more sense for me to do retail arbitrage type stuff to keep cash on hand and quicker healthier returns. Still a bummer, as this is the third of fourth time in the last few years I've missed on some healthy returns by not having the means to invest properly.
