It's been over 300 years since the Salem witch trials. Those who remain are almost extinct and in danger again. A school has opened in New Orleans to teach protection to the young. The long-absent Supreme, Fiona, arrives to also protect the coven and their secrets. Fiona's daughter, Cordelia, is a teacher at the school.

The themes include witches, witch hunts, incest, minorities, slavery, mothers and daughters, and witchcraft versus voodoo. This season will be set in modern day and the 1830s.

There's been several prior, but this is the first with actual actors.

So hyped! I can't believe they're releasing the Asylum Blu-ray one day before the new season starts. I really wanted to do a rewatch before hand.
 
Mildly excited, I didn't really liked asylum too much, I think they tried to jam too many horror movie tropes in one season.
The first season worked better for me.

Yeah Asylum had the kitchen sink approach. They threw everything in.

I have no idea why.

I've gotta be really honest, after Asylum I was really tired of him. I don't know what it was - both the characters he played were psychopaths and he did a great job of portraying them as different despite them both being villains.

But I think I was just done with him after Asylum. His performance was great, if not slightly creepy. Maybe his intensity was what made me realise I didn't want to see him for a while.

This season seems very female orientated, so I am looking forward to see what the writers do with it. I'm still not sure if Bates is being built up to be the main villain, but either way I am excited to see what they do with the talent behind this season.

Her casting call was initially about something like a party girl or some shit, but the way she's been photographed and such makes me think that she might play a bigger part.

She was originally recurring, but now she's main cast. Maybe after she beat her boyfriend (Evan Peters) they made her main cast to control her temper? >_>

season 1 blew me away, it was so good. I couldnt even finish season 2..i had no clue what was going on (took weeks off in between) and it was just ugh

should i rewatch and finish season 2? or just chalk it up as shit?

I watched the first season and skipped the second. This looks fantastic so far. I think I'll dive back in. I wish more shows took this approach where each season had different stories to tell. It would be much easier to get back into the shows.
 
Teaser #6 was all I needed to know, cannot fuckin' wait! Lange, Rabe and Peters plus Kathy Bates? I can't be more hyped. Understand this is the first time I've even heard news about it. >.>
 
I liked the first season, but the asylum one seemed like it was getting a bit too silly and I skipped it. Is it worth seeing?

This season has me interested with a more interesting subject matter (to me).

Asylum is much much better than the first season. You should watch it.

Yeah but at the same time I am actually quite shocked to find that so many people seem to prefer the first season as well..

I guess it's quite polarising in that regard - some people preferred the family oriented drama of the first season while the "workplace" drama (as the creators described it) of Asylum kind of went down well with a few people.

Personally, Asylum is my favourite. But both are fantastic.
