I don't think it's a great commercial, but I don't really see anything wrong with it... they could do so much more in terms of targeting a mainstream non-gamer audience, but that would really take different styles of commercials in non-traditional TV networks (say daytime soap operas or Lifetime) or maybe TNT/TBS...

it's an ok commercial for what it's trying to be out of the gate, which is appealing to a crowd that probably hates Nintendo at that age because they think GTA is "cool" and Nintendo is too "kiddy" for them (basically teen boys)...

like Obi said, it's hard to market this game, but I'd give this attempt a thumbs-up even though it's a bit corny...

Yeah, that's the one. I'm glad someone else remembers! The actual commercials weren't bad at all, but that E3 promo was completely horrible. The difference here, of course, is that the Nintendogs commercial is actually being aired.

What's the joke? That this kid is an utter tool? I guess it's funny in that way, though the message of "This game is played by fucking tools" is not really a good advertisement. Like the Mario Sunshine ad, even people that get the joke are not really being prodded to buy the game.

Man, I expected far worse...it's a piece of crap, but it's nothing that will hurt the game in the minds of its target audience. However, it does nothing to help the game and I think there were far better options to market a game featuring an electronic puppy, like having a bitter feud between a Nintendog and a real dog, or something of that nature.
