Toys r U had a ton of everyone but only one Marth. I should have grabbed it since my Best Buy order got cancelled. The Link I picked up for free looks really slick! Also my TRU online order I placed hasn't shipped either.

Lol...I'm sitting here, reading these comments, and I can't help but laugh. So many people are buying these things left and right out of pure compulsion and don't even know why they want them. At $12 a pop, you guys must have some decent amount of disposable cash.

As for me, I will not be buying them. I don't see the appeal in them, and they don't do enough in any game to warrant a purchase. On top of that, I'm 32 and got out of the collectables/swag game a long time ago, because it was just cluttering my house up.
Watch out! We got a badass over here...

It's fine not to be interested. I'm not either (other than possibly picking one up for my son). But no need to shit on people who ARE interested.

Pics from my local Gamestop that I went to when they opened at 10 AM.

Ended up picking up 4 Amiibos, Marth, Wii Fit Trainer, Villager and Samus.

Marth, Villager and Wii Fit Trainer are confirmed as the rarest ones and Marth is already out of stock on Amazon (USA and Canada) with third party sellers selling it at almost triple the price.

Samus I couldn't resist. Will be getting Fox next when I have more expendable cash. Also since I had a $10 Target Gift Card and $20 off at Future Shop from a previous issue, all 4 cost me less than $30.

Woohoo! Now to get to work! I called in late so I could do this hahaha

I saw some at Walmart in display case. They are not putting them on the floor until 10 AM they said.
Going to get Yoshi at Best Buy in a bit.

I hope nobody hops on amazon and pays the prices people are asking for Marth. Nintendo is gonna keep even the rarest figures restocked until next spring at the least.

I have a feeling Animal Crossing Amiibos will eventually come out since that's a series already with a lot of merch so ugly Villager is an easy miss for me.

Picked up the last Mario at my local Target and a Starfox. Only had Yoshi, Peach, DK, and Pikachu stocked. I think they had more in the back though.

I hate to do this but reading this post, then another of yours in another thread. Seems to be a little contrast there, especially the bolded.

So there's a Marth at Toys R Us and it's not horrible looking. Amiibo are selling like crazy here. Almost all sold out and they had an entire wall.

Bought them all.

Which ones are limited besides shulk at GameStop?
Meta Knight and Lucario are both retailer exclusives so far... Best Buy and Toys R Us, respectively. Not due out until March though.

If I were a betting man, I'd say Rosalina is going to be Target exclusive.

It's pretty much indirectly confirmed by the silhouette of Tom Nook on the in-store display. It should be interesting to see how they handle it.

I'm at Toys R Us right now waiting on a friend. About a dozen of everyone, except Marth, Villager, and Wii Fit Trainer who have 2-3 each.

So what's the final quality on these? Did it ended up being decent?

Hit or miss. They seem to be more of a hit than miss, but don't expect perfection.

A lot depends on if you are a real collector or not along with your mentality/expectations going in. I for one am just happy I have a Samus figured!

Based Metroid.

So I have three amiibo now. Probably done now. Pikachu, Link, and Fox. These things are selling like crazy. I had to see over 30 purchased in less than 15 minutes.

I just want a Ness Amiibo so bad :(

I figure if I beg in enough Amiibo topics Nintendo will eventually feel bad enough about getting fuckin' Shulk out when a Smash staple like Ness has yet to be serviced :(

I cancelled my preorder of three amiibos about a week ago not because they're "childish" but because I wasn't impressed with the in-game functionality and I don't need any more clutter in my house.

That said, the Samus one is still pretty tempting for some reason.

From my understanding you can play in coop with your Amiibo against your opponents. I find it pretty cool. If you have to assist him during fights, it should add an interesting layer to the gameplay, is that the case ?

I am buying all of them just because I am a huge Nintendo fan and I like the figures, despite the fact that I am not overly impressed with their functionality so far. I think they were sort of rushed so they could be out before Christmas, but I am sure Nitnendo will come up with some really cool uses for them in the future. Also, if I change my mind later I am sure they will resell well.

Just drown in the fact that there are no other games Ness will be used in. At least Shulk could be used in Xenoblade Chronicles X.

seriously is Shulk gonna be released in the UK?
Looks like the coolest one to own.

Or in Xenoblade chronicles 3DS

The reason why I think these might be worth it is because they have functionalities in several games as opposed to one game for Skylanders and Disney infinity. Well, to be fair older Skylander figurines work in the newer games as well but for amiibos it's different, they work in completely different games. Hyrule warriors, Mario Kart, Smash, and probably future games as well. They also look cool next to each other on a shelf. They're kinda pricy and that's the only thing slowing me down right now. Maybe in time I'll get a few more.

I'm curious what game Bill Trinnen was referring to in his tweet about the next series of amiibos being tied to a new game. My guess might be a Nintendo Land sequel.

Quickly, somebody convince me not to buy every single Amiibo. Right now, I mean. By the end of the year I'm going to have them all... but I really shouldn't buy them all day 1.

At least Hyrule Warriors was smart enough to be compatible with all of them, even if it's for rather limited purposes. Otherwise, WFT is in the same boat.

I went to target this morning. They had every character, however only a couple of Villager, Marth, Fox, and Wii Fit. I bought them all despite not planning to use most of them. Just in case.

Just bite the bullet. There's a decent possibility that some of them will cost you way more than $12 in the future.

Miyamoto said that there´ll be an Amiibo for every Smash character, you´ll just have to be quick when NoA announces that they have 5 Ness Amiibos for the entire continent
as Nintendo World Store exclusive

No, that isn't it at all. I'm not saying I'm too cool for these or whatever. If they had some reasonable in-game attributes, I'd probably own a couple, but they don't currently. My point was that it astounds me how many people are buying these figures out of pure compulsion, without even knowing why they bought them or why they should want them.

Personally, I know why I want a few of the Amiibo's:

Nintendo (themselves), never makes figure based collectables for lesser (but still A tier) series' like Star Fox, Fire Emblem, Metroid, FZero or Xenoblade.

I'd like to have a collectable Shulk or Marth, as SSB might be the only opportunity to ever get one.

I can see the uses amiibos could have for certain franchises...I just hope Nintendo utilizes them correctly instead of using this as a cash grab.
