Totally believable. I mean, Gamestop did this with a handful of Wii titles.
I just placed my pre-order. My preference is to buy my Amiibos in person in order to get the best paint jobs, but I'd prefer to get an imperfect one versus not getting one at all.

I really don't understand why people are so bothered by this. Fair enough if it's DLC for the same game, but these are figurines. You'll just have to buy one or two from another store than your usual at worst.

Preordered Shulk and Mega Man yesterday and glad I did. Looks like GameStop is going to pull another Xenoblade Chronicles by jacking up the price intentionally.
Wish I didn't have to preorder though. I like buying these things by looking at the various ones on the shelves and finding the best paint job. Simply luck of the draw now.

I will be honest and say that I didn't, and that's a reasonable reason to hate it. I'm glad that practices like that will be sniffed out and dealth with appropriately here in Australia if such a thing does happen.
But yeah, I still stick by my comment. I don't think retailer exclusive things are that bad of a thing except in moments like this where the retailer is a bit scummy. Sounds like you Americans get a really short end of the stick whenever GameStop gets their hands on stuff over there :/
Their Australian equivalent is much better.

I think Best Buy will be getting another shipment. My pre order of Marth still hasn't arrived but its expecting to come Dec 23rd. Its sold out at Best Buy right now so chances are if they fulfill my order finally, then there will be more Marths arriving.

How much money has this thread collectively spent on Amiibos, I wonder.
I'm assuming that they will come with future game releases. Cross-promotion, etc. I don't think they will simply launch new Amiibo initiatives out into the cold. Just as these first Amiibos were branded for Smash, I'm sure all future Amiibos will have specific game associations.
We will probably get a much better sense of their future Amiibo plans at their investor's meeting in January. By that time they will have sales numbers to report and I'm guessing they will have a lot to say about sales figures from their launch this fall and their plans for them for 2015.

I am only getting some of the Smash Amiibos.
Probably if I bother to get any other line it will be Mario Party.
Probably just the Smash ones that I really like. I don't see myself owning other than those (unless some really cool characters appear - or the same characters in cooler poses/costumes). As much as I like Pokemon and Animal Crossing I probably won't buy any of those

Ah, ok. Well, looks like I now have all announced figures locked up except for whatever is up with these three Wave 2 figures: Capt. Falcon, Pit, and Little Mac. I'd like to get them from Amazon, which is where I got the majority of my other figures ordered and pre-ordered, but they still don't show up. I just checked Gamestop and they show Little Mac, but with a later date than the other Wave 2 figures. What to do?
Luckily I have everything preordered except Rosalina which isn't available for preorder yet and its a Target exclusive for those that aren't aware.

Yeah, same. No email confirmation. Used paypal, got to the last step, and the receipt was blank.
I try to add another lucario to the cart and it gets to the next page and says I haven't added anything to the cart. Tried again in incognito, no luck.
