Absolutely kills me that I can't find a damn (second) Villager. That's what I get for waiting for my Amazon.ca shipment to arrive first. Guess I'll need to hit stores on day-of-release to get a "for play" copy of the other 'rare' ones.

Any decent leads on imports? Where it's for use I'm not fussed about box appearance etc.

Was stunned to see a Marth amiibo in the wild today. Needless to say, I bought that. Now debating whether to keep it in box or break it out.

(My collection in order of purchase: Samus, Link, Mario, DK, Pikachu, Yoshi, Star Fox, Marth.)
I would keep it in the box for a few weeks. This situation could get really crazy if they never re-stock it.

Well, can't find a Villager anywhere in Birmingham, AL. I found both a Wii Fit Trainer and a Marth in the wild...sadness. I'll hold onto my Entertainment Earth order and hope it goes through next year.

This makes me want to slow down with future amiibo purchases. All I have on pre-order is Zelda, Luigi, Mega Man, Sonic, Ike, and Bowser. I want Mario, Yoshi, Kirby, and Samus (and currently have Peach, Link, Wii Fit Trainer, and Marth). I'll get Robin, Lucina, Ness, Zero Suit Samus, Pac-Man, and Palutena when they come out, and maybe Duck Hunt and ROB for the fun of it.

Wow, Christmas came early. Walked into my local F.Y.E, and they had a bunch of Zeldas, Little Macs, and Diddy Kongs out on the shelf. Best part? The register let the payment through.

Walked out with a Little Mac in my hands and joy in my heart.

So i've now ordered Wii fit Trainer, Marth and Kirby (seems to be getting hard to find in the UK). Is Villager the only other one people think will become a rarity (already become one) with wave 1?

Welp...

Decided to put an Order in on the Nintendo UK store as they have the cheapest to pre-order up to Wave 3/4 (it's split here) so far. Tesco are selling Wave 1 at £10 and if they sell Wave 2 at £10 then I might cancel the order and just try and hop on early with them for Wave 3 (if also at £10). Got a Captain Falcon ordered via Flubit though for under £10. I have a problem ;_; It was never meant to be this way ;_;

After that though I think I'll "only" want Robin, Pac-Man, ROB, G&W, Lucina, Ganondorf, Bowser Jr. Unless I remember more...

Oh and Maybe Mario and Lugi and Bowser and Peach for the main Mario cast... Maybe...

Oh and of course Charizard. I forget he's a character sometimes lol.

I don't know that it's on purpose, but from a purely cynical business perspective this seems a great way of driving interest in Amiibo and keeping them off the second hand market. Make sure the Marios can always be bought, but have a few rarities every wave to create the impression of "worth holding on to" value that Nintendo wants in their games.

I also got cancellation from EE 😭

If anyone doesn't mind the Japanese boxart (or are going to open it anyway) Amazon has a marth for $30 including shipping. Just do a search for marth and scroll past the first Marth and all the other amiibo.

I ordered one, I'll let you guys know if I get any bad news...

I can't believe Nintendo really put out one run and done. Ebay scalpers have a new target for the next waves.

Looks like EE canceled the preorders. Nintendo really didn't want to make anymore.
I got that email too. I want a Villager, but I don't want to pay out the nose to get one. I'll keep looking in hope that one randomly shows up somewhere...

This is awful. I feel bad for everyone who didn't preorder cuz they weren't that easy to find in stores in the first place. What a shame.
Well, it won't be that way for every amiibo. Nintendo won't stop making Mario or Link, that's for sure.

Where does the rumor of discontinuation come from?

Official Nintendo PR says otherwise:
http://nintendoeverything.com/ninte...ung-no-amiibo-figures-have-been-discontinued/

Are there any other statements?

In Germany you still can get every amiibo and stores that don´t have them anymore are giving specific dates on when they will be back in store.

Well...we all have factual proof based on the cancellation email from Entertainment Earth. It says right in the email, "they have discontinued production of this item." It hurts but it's becoming more and more clear all those rumors were true.

If Capcom had any say Mega Man would be exclusive to the Capcom store online and they would actually not have any in stock, just take your money for the order and then email you saying "oops, sorry it's out of stock", remove the listing and then not allow you to cancel the order (because there is no product by that listing sold on the store).

I'm still mad salty when I tried to get a Mega Man figure from the Capcom store. Had to go to Paypal to sort it out for me and get my money back.

Is that a well known store? Never heard of them. But honestly, at the moment at least for me it would still be easy to get them and as long as other large retailers state exact dates when they will get new stock I can´t believe Nintendo is "supporting" scalpers :-)

Yup, checked all the way out past Alabaster, AL.
They had a few one day, that rumor started and every store was cleared out the next.
Thanks for the warning: I was going to check out in the Alabaster stores this afternoon. I checked Pelham this morning, no dice. Lakeshore is a possibility too, but I don't feel like driving all the way up there. 280 had none of the rare three, but plenty of the others at Best Buy, Target, and Toys R Us.

Yeah where things stand right now is that there is conflicting information. Nintendo has sent out PR statements to both Kotaku and Wired stating that some figures will be discontinued because of shelf space. Then you have that reply from David Young stating no figures have been discontinued.

The problem is, there are retailers now also stating they have been discontinued. I'm going to guess and say they have been discontinued.

I'm not going to take any chances, I'm ordering the ones I think will be dropped by Nintendo. Little Mac, Sheik, Shulk, Lucario, Megaman, Ike, and Captain Falcon. I'll worry about the rest later.

There actually isn't a conflict between the two statements.

Young is saying that no figure has been discontinued right now. The PR statement to Kotaku and Wired was that they likely will due to shelf space.

Obviously, yes, they will certainly discontinue some in order to meet shelf space demands and they clearly have expectations as to which ones it will be. At the same time, they appear to be leaving open the possibility that they may end up keeping one of the ones on the chopping block around if it ends up being viable to make more.

Yea, EE is huge and very well known to figure collectors. If they can't get any then it's definitely worrisome. Maybe some are still shipping to some retailers. Good luck guys.

So guys, I'm looking at ordering falcon, mac, and shulk from gamestop dot com right now. They ship these things safely?

Also, how would shipping be handled for Shulk, they wouldn't hold the others until this comes right?

Or actually, would the TRU deal make more sense? With 40% off.

"We will aim for certain amiibo to always be available. These will be for our most popular characters like Mario and Link. Due to shelf space constraints, other figures likely will not return to the market once they have sold through their initial shipment."

This seems to indicates that they are discontinued. Sure, technically they didn't say these exact figures are the ones that won't be resupplied, but that's just semantics because they are saying that some figures will not be resupplied after the initial shipment.

Either way, the messages sent are clearly different. David Young makes it sound like there is nothing at all too worry about period. While the other statement makes it clear that some amiibos will intentionally become hard to find on shelves.

If you want Meta Knight I would order now...looks like store's supplies are dwindling (10 of 12 stores in Minnesota area are sold out of their pre-order amount). Not sure if they will have ANY on shelves come release day...my store didn't get any Marth except for pre-orders.

Little Mac and the Captain are looking to be the "rares" of Wave 2, right? I want them regardless, but I haven't pre-ordered them yet.

Yes. Like, obviously we aren't going to eventually have every single fighter in Smash Bros, plus figures for whatever other games eventually get them, all out on shelves at the same time. Something is going to get discontinued. However, why would they discontinue so soon? I'd think that doesn't kick in till Wave 3 or other games join in.

Little Mac is the one already disappearing around these parts. Captain Falcon is a close second. The other four seem to still be readily available to preorder, for now.

idk even know what the fuck I'm doing. kind of had an interest before in marth and wii fit trainer U and decided not to get them, now I cant find them so I just bought basically all of wave 2.

Well, for anyone in Europe, Amazon is still worth checking. Marth still on .it and .fr, but Villager and Trainer gone. Ordered Marth from the Italian site, but also got stung on shipping costs....like shipping equal to 43% the cost of the Amiibo. Tempted to cancel.
