If you want Meta Knight I would order now...looks like store's supplies are dwindling (10 of 12 stores in Minnesota area are sold out of their pre-order amount). Not sure if they will have ANY on shelves come release day...my store didn't get any Marth except for pre-orders.
That's quite bothersome...

I think I'll preorder some character of wave 2 / 3, and return them in case they're bad (and I can find better in shops). Never did this, but I don't see what else I could do.

Though I've been said before the launch that Marth was only for preorders in shops in France, and he can still be found in shops. And it seems that Amazon.fr got a restock very recently (yesterday or today).

While nothing has been said about Kirby, and Kirby seems to be a real rarity here... (I'm glad the only one I found was, apparently, flawless)

Have Mario, WFT and Kirby.
Villager coming in mail. Marth (hopefully) coming, if it doesn't get cancelled. Will open and keep both.

Preordered Falcon, Shulk, Dedede and Megaman. May get Bowser also, should be common. In the future I'm looking at DHD, Pacman, Dr Mario (maybe) and Ness.

That should be all. Hopefully.... (only planned to get a couple, but they look so good).

It is kind of odd how rare Kirby is in Europe. The Kirby games aren't very popular here and that's the reason we have missed a lot - yet the Amiibo is among the most popular ones. Maybe Europe just got a very little amount of Kirby or the character itself is very popular here

Anyway, here's the figures I have and have pre-ordered at the moment:

Wave 1:
Samus
Pikachu
Kirby
Marth
Villager

Wave 2:
Captain Falcon
Little Mac
Pit

Wave 3:
Everything but Sonic

Yeah, Wave 3 has so many awesome characters! Not sure if I am getting all of them, but I pre-ordered them all just in case - I can always cancel. Definitely getting Shulk, Ike and Metaknight though. Those are my absolute favorite of the bunch

Lucario pre-orders were open for a bit on Toys R Us' website. Had one in my cart and they sold out before I could finish the order. What a fucking pain in the ass.

It looks like Play Asia has all of them, and since they're region free, you can drop $20 (plus shipping) to get them without hassle. I've used that site before and had no problems.

Little Mac and the Captain are looking to be the "rares" of Wave 2, right? I want them regardless, but I haven't pre-ordered them yet.

I have no clue but it seems like Pit wouldn't be as popular as Little Mac so there might be less made. Of course Kid Icarus Uprising might have made Pit a little more popular...who knows.

I did swing by a Target/WalMart/Toys R Us during my lunch break and had no luck finding a Marth or Villager. Target and Wal Mart didn't have very many overall but Toys R Us had a ton out on the shelves. There was actually a worker unboxing a lot more so they might be putting out some wave 2 models. I'll swing by after work and see.

Someone in this thread posted that they saw a ton of the hard-to-find figures (like Marth, which is the one I want most) at Toys 'R Us, causing me to wake up early in an attempt to hunt one down. No dice. So instead I came to work and ranted about how crappy it is that I'm now desperately trying to track down amiibo figures when I don't even like the way they've worked with games so far.

My fingers are crossed that a few more wave one figures will be slipped in with wave two shipments, but I'm losing hope.

EB Games Australia just restocked Marth online.

EDIT: Bought one, and it now says out of stock again. My order is processing, but they've cancelled my previous attempt, so I won't get my hopes up until it says shipped.

Says "pending arrival" under stock levels for me, which isn't promising.

I have tried twice today to get Lucario. Each time he is in my cart, and everything is good through checkout. It says it is available to be shipped. I choose to pay with Paypal. I also have Ike in my cart for the 40 percent off. Once I submit the order, it goes through but then I get a message that there was a problem because Lucario is out of stock. They still charge me for Ike at full price though. Two times now I have had to cancel my orders. Frustrating.

That was me. I got lucky, found six on Friday night last week. I didn't even buy one (bought three actually, sold two to a couple of buddies for cost) until the next evening. The amiibo around here at TRU hide in two spots: at the front of the store near the registers and in electronics with the Skylanders and Infinity stuff.

Good luck!

Sorry, I just about pulled the trigger on a Villager, but I can't pay that price. I can't justify that cost.

I can't believe Nintendo really put out one run and done. Ebay scalpers have a new target for the next waves.

The problem is that they release them way too fast. In a couple months the only figures we'll see in stores will be Mario, Link, Pikachu, Samus, etc. and all the other ones will already be discontinued.

Really sucks for someone planning to buy a Wii U later.

I don't get why they wouldn't sell the discontinued ones on their own website.

Just finished my Club Nintendo survey for Smash Bros Wii U and....welp

Yeah. It really shouldn't be this much of a hassle to pre-order these things.

Just bought a Lucario off play-asia. Sucks paying double the price but its better than not getting one from toys r us and having to reward a scalper.

After I saw what was going down on Friday, I put pre-orders in on everything I wanted on Saturday. Glad I did now that I'm seeing more places closing pre-orders.

Also... psst... come visit us in the new OT, shmoopy.

Yup, same thing that's happening with me. And I'm using a debit card (no CC right now), so they're putting the funds on hold. So I've got to wait for the authorization hold to expire to get my money back. Boooo TRU, booooo.

I wouldn't mind preordering the rare ones if the quantity didn't vary so greatly. I don't think san Antonio got any marth figures outside of gamestop preorders which makes this all the more irritating.

I've bough every single Amiibo so far, kept them all in their boxes. Got wave 2 and wave 3 locked down via preorder, too.

But this is getting exhausting. Preordering multiples of each just to make sure I get ones in good condition (then having to return the rest), having to run from store to store for some of the exclusives in wave 3, trying to find spots to store them all... I'm not sure I can keep it up, especially post-Smash. I'm tempted to get rid of them all and be done with it...

^instead of getting rid of them all, keep the ones you like most, open and enjoy them. return the rest.

once amiibo become time consuming and stressful, i'd say it's time to reevaluate their actual worth.

I don't know about Captain Falcon being a rare because he has an unlockable Mii Racing Suit in Mario Kart 8. If he ends up being a rare his prices will skyrocket.

With that said....

Actually that's a huge problem for me also.

I have no idea where I'm gonna put all the boxes. I'll take suggestions!

Best Buy screwed up my in-store pickup for the Villager. I was able to order one last week and I should have hit the shipping option.

They spent 45 minutes looking for it and they made up a dozen excuses, no courtesy, and nothing as to why it showed up as ready for pickup for the last day. Didn't care that a customer was waiting for it. Nah, not even a sorry. Whatever.

I hope retailers start putting pressure on Nintendo. I feel like Toys R Us especially will want to do something about Lucario already being sold out two months in advance.

Don't trust best buy in store pickup whatsoever. Their inventory system is fucked. Three times in last few weeks I have had them send a no pick on item the site says they do. Yesterday I saw a game in availlable that the store lookup said thy didn't have

I don't give them 2 years at this rate

The store look up inventory means they have like 3 or more copies or something like that. If they have too few copies then they won't list is as available so that's why you can find a game in store despite the store lookup saying it's not there.

In looking for extra Marth, Villager and Trainers, I'm also looking for defects. Found a loose Kirby at Best Buy yesterday. Snatched him up. Probably isn't going to be worth anything but at least I can use him without taking him out of the box.

This is why if possible I choose the shipping option.

I figured it was a glitch or a very slim chance.

The one I ordered was a "Ships to Store in 3-5 Days" ... and the site notified me that it was delayed, then it shipped to the store, and was available for pick-up. It should have been cancelled outright.

This. I was gonna do a store pickup of ZombiU at a Best Buy and it said it wasn't available. Stopped in anyway and they had a couple copies left on the shelf.

So are the Villager, Marth, and Trainer Amiibos really being discontinued? Will they be impossible to find in the future? Should I be buying them all up whenever I find them? Will their values increase?

Thanks. Gonna keep this in mind for a Villager if I can't track one down otherwise.

I just ordered them from a bunch of evidence pointing to a very small run for them in NA at least. Around here the stores said they only ever had a few in or never got those in. EE says they can't get any more, Walmart removed them from their website and there seems to not be a single one hitting retail anytime soon.

Safest bet.

I've got a few friends in mid-sized towns scouting, but if nothing turns up by the weekend, I'll bite the bullet and basically pay double for Play Asia. Still cheaper than finding one domestically.
