I agree but since trained Amiibo are better than level 9 CPU, it is still extra "content". It's the equivalent to a new difficulty level in any other game for me.

To be fair, a lot of people were excited over Amiibos if only because they looked like really cool first-party Nintendo swag. I suspect the excitement was overlooked because of the constant "What be Amiibo? It makes no sense!" threads.
Now that they're in the wild yes a lot of people want Nintendo swag.
Plus the scalpers are really helping boost the impression these things are the hot toy of the season.

Found him at Toys R Us. They had 3 total. Also got one coming from Amazon so I'm probably gonna hold onto it and sell it. Went into Gamestop and they had just opened a fresh shipment, one Mac and like 7 Zeldas. Didn't see Falcon, Diddy, Pit, or Luigi.
Luckily I also have all these preordered and paid for on Amazon so I won't have to be involved in the mad dash to retailers once the rest of the world sees they're available early

Yeah, I hope I didn't seem like I was minimizing the bummer of this all, I'm super disappointed I never grabbed a Marth when they were available, and I'm worried now for waves 2 and 3... it just could be so much worse, thankful for that at least.

If anyone's curious, the 93454 area code Toys R Us has Zeldas available online, I'm ordering one now. I don't think Zelda's one of the hard to find ones though, right?
So in the US, Capt Falcon, Pit and Luigi don't release for a couple more weeks? I've got Diddy and Little Mac coming, so I'd love it if this were the case because then I'd only have to get Zelda today. Not sure if my Walmart has her or not yet, might have to run to the mall, maybe see if they have Marth and Village while I'm at it.

To be fair, Wave 1 was mostly shit characters that I don't want and very horrible quality. Wave 2 seems to be more consistent and has characters that don't have nice figures already (Cap and Mac). So it entices collectors such as myself who would rather buy a nice Link figure than the shitty one they made for an amiibo. I'd feel the same way if there was a nice Captain Falcon figure but there aren't.

Bought Diddy, Zelda and Little Mac at the nintendo world store. I pre ordered captain falcon, pit and Luigi but it had to be 3 different transactions cause they don't know if they're gonna arrive together or on separate days. I also didn't know wave 2 was just 6 figures.

Are Pit, Cpt Falcon and Toon Link available now in some places? Or is it just Zelda, Diddy and Mac right now? I grabbed Zelda since she was the only one I wanted out of those three but I want all of Pit, Link Falcon. Just wondering if I would be wasting my time driving around the region trying to find them.
Also, has anyone in Canada been able to pre-order Shulk from eb games? I've yet to see it go up on their site.

My local Toys R Us has 4 Little Mac's, 6 Diddy Kongs, and a bunch of Zeldas at about 2:30. Picked up a Mac and a Diddy, and I'll hold off on Zelda since she seems very well in-stock.

Toon Link is part of wave 3...
Pit, Falcon and Luigi are the second half of Wave 2. They are only out in Japan right now, delayed for North America, to the end of December (maybe Dec 30th).
There is no mention of Shulk being available at EB yet, but they probably will have him.

What store stocks more than 20 figures of a toy line? Other than the Nintendo store or something like Amazon shelf space is limited. Nintendo probably didn't expect the demand given Wii U sales. I believe from a manufacturing stance starting back up production is expensive and continuing on with new product is better. I am sure there are contracts in place and schedules to be kept. Hell they aren't doing a good job even with the initial waves. Apparently half the wave 2 for North America are delayed for shipping. It is not an impressive launch so I don't know why anyone would be confident they could change plans midway through the production cycle. Just my opinion. Good luck to all though

Went to a local Gamestop and they had 1 Little Mac left. They had one Diddy Kong that they sold out of. The guy there seemed confident he would get more Diddy Kong amiibo.

Cut-back on figures, spend "saved" money on Amiibo.

Toys r us told me captain falcon is due on the 14th.
I checked a WalMart (Ontario, Canada) near me at lunch. The clerk told me that they will be receiving the shipment later today. I'm going to check back after work in 20 minutes.

That's how normal toys and such are done yes. I'm pretty sure its been confirmed Nintendo is sending only full boxes of 4 of 1 character. That retail outlets can't order 1 or 2 of a character they have to order them by a box of 4 of that character. This isn't typical toy distribution.
Definitely up for this if we're going to make a new OT. I was actually going to suggest making the official amiibo OT some time ago, but then I discovered we already have one in Community, by Robin64.
Not really sure what's supposed to happen now. Either this topic has to be closed and the OT in Community moved here, or we reboot the OT with a new thread and the one in Community dies a slow death... :/. Not sure what the mods' stance is on this. (And obviously Robin64 still has the "rights" to do the OT in either scenario).
I called Walmart (Canada) earlier and the guy told me he didn't even know when they were getting wave 2 shipment.

Holy shit, I feel like a ninja. Meta Knight went back in stock with 1 available (after I tried when they had 53 and it went out of stock before I could confirm my order). I put in all my info super quick and was able to get the last Meta Knight off BB Canada's site.
Hopefully they don't cancel it. Now all I need to pre-order is Dedede and Shulk and I'm basically done, barring any restocks of Villager. Do we know if Dedede is exclusive to anywhere in Canada/US?

Was in both today. I was told by Electronic department in Target that they haven't got their stock yet. Walmart said they hadn't even got a date yet but also no stock. This was Summerville SC near Charleston. My TRU had the 3. 4 each of Mac and DiDiddy and plenty of Zelda. They were in back and I showed a GAF pictures of another TRU which prompted them to check the back. They sold them to me and my friend .
Dedede - No it's a regular release, you can preorder him on Amazon.
